The "perfect" woman's rifle

There is no "perfect" woman's rifle, any more than there is a "perfect" men's rifle. We (women) are just as varied in size, shape, strength, experience and 'taste' as men are. The only way she (not you...) will find the gun & caliber she really wants is to handle them, shoot them, hunt with them if possible -same as anyone. Personally, I absolutely love my BLR '81 Lightweight in .308 with a straight grip, but that view certainly won't be shared by all, or even most women - there are too many other choices. Male or female, it takes time and patience to find that "one gun" that just feel right. Just my 2-cents. :)

This?

Took mine to the range and let her shoot my T3 Lite .243, but LOP was too long and she couldnt get a good sight picture.
Took her to the gun shop and she tried 4 different "lady/youth" gun brands..as soon as she shoulderd the Tikka T3x Compact 243 she knew it was her gun. She loves it, shoots it well, and took her first mulie with it this fall.

i'm on the hunt for a woman's rifle. I'm looking for honest opinions and experiences of them. So far i'm leaning heavily toward the savage 11 lady hunter and weatherby camilla vanguard, but there's a lot of other compact/youth models out there that might fit the job. What do you guys think?

At the risk to my own masculinity since i personally love the platform, the CZ 527M Carbine is short and light and handles well according to my wife.

If vote for that rifle too. I am 5ft10 and ideally enjoyed hunting with that little carbine. It would make a great ladies gun. If she was smaller the youth carbine variant would be a good option too. If they want to hunt elk or moose you would need something bigger.

"Shrink It and Pink It" is a condescending approach that turns more women away from hunting than it attracts. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and you'll catch more women hunters if you actually give a #### about making the sport more accessible to them. Pink camo ain't that.

Buy her a Kimber Montana in .300 Win mag

After she shoots it once ...
she wont want to join you at the range or hunting .. & you get time to yourself and the rifle ... win-win

There's a .458 in my safe at the moment that could raise the bar if you really don't like her...

My 7 year old daughter loves the pink. Wife not so much (although the wife isn't interested in guns at all so maybe she'll like pink if I can ever get her into guns...)

I agree with you completely in theory, but my daughter is dead set on a pink savage rascal and a 20 gauge in muddy girl camo. I'm just stoked she wants her own guns, so she can have them in any damn colour she wants.

ohh, 7mm 08 of course, then you can justify getting a 7mm08 in the name of 'its my wifes'

we all know the 708 is a Big Girls Big Game Gun... ;)

The perfect women's rifle?
The one that isn't pointed at me when she's saying: "I just had a little talk with my sister..." :runaway:

P.S. For the record, pink doesn't necessarily offend the women folk. My daughter has a pink 'Breast Cancer' 22lr savage bolt and a pink GSG 1911 22lr (prettiest little pistol I've ever seen).
