The remington 350 magnum

Here's mine
20121118_231354.jpg

A 700 Classic (350RM) in a McMillan stock; EAW QD rings/bases; 4x,36 Nickel Supra (longer eye relief).

This 'might' still have the Canjar 3 lever (with the opt. set shoe removed) otherwise its a Timney and a 'Tubb' speed striker (although the canjar and the striker might have been moved to a 260Rem Varmint ...??? gotta check. I can tell you that 'set' triggers are not to be used, when set, with gloves on in the winter time!

( I sure wish I had purchased several more 3 lever Canjar triggers when they were still around! IIRC I bought this one and a 2 lever for a mauser - still kicking around somewhere)

BTW - I think thats an 'Uncle Mike' sling -- its darn good! doesnt slip off the shoulder and quickly adjustable for 'slinging up' ... gotta find a few more of those too!

350RM Target.jpg

3rds shot on a 100 Yd small bore target with 225gr Nosler Partitions @ approx 100yds

According to my notes its was 60gr of IMR 4320 CCI250 in RP brass (of course!) and my Chrony said 2624fps (mind you my Chrony is full of surprises and wonderment!) .. some pretty accurate loads with 200gr Hornady spire point with 65gr H380 showing 2850 fps fwiw

(EDIT TO ADD: DO NOT start at these loads as they are at the upper end of published data and were 'worked up' to !!)

My custom .350 Remington Magnum built on a Remington 798 long action with a 24" 1-in-12" twist McGowen Precision barrel. No issues with heavy bullets taking up case capacity. Near maximum load performance using Reloder17: 310gr bullets at 2500 fps and 250gr bullets at 2700 fps. Fine accuracy. :)

What advantage does a 350RemMag offer over a 35Whelen or 9.3x62?

I would think brass would be a huge hassle for the 350 owner and not getting better with R-P stopping up brass for reloading supplies.

I had sold out of .350 RM's but now have TWO Ruger M77 MKII's in .350 RM on the way, one synthetic stainless and one walnut blued.

Slamfire's improved .350 magnum outperforms these. :p
I'm sure it does, but if one is going to use a long action, I'd think a 358NormaMag would make more sense and still get more velocity.

Brass is available from Nosler.
Brass is now a big consideration when buying a new chambering. Not sure how much Nosler is charging for 350 brass but I'm sure it's hard to find & expensive as is a lot of other brass now. At least with a 35Whelen, you can use 30/06 brass w/o major alterations and still have one more in the mag.

About 100 fps more MV than my .350 mag. and burns about 15% more powder. Diminishing returns? .358 Norma Mag. brass availability?

Currently no problem finding .350 RM Nosler brass. I stocked up.

I necked up 300WinMag brass for my 358Norma. Factory stamped brass was very costly.

Did you get R-P brass or have to buy Nosler? Cost?

I'm not slammin' your 350, just saying that brass has now become a big consideration for choosing a chambering. I did manage to stock up on some brass over the last year. Searched high/low and in the last month bought 200pcs ea 257Roberts and 35Whelen R-P stamped.

I bought a form trim die (redding I think..here somewhere) very simple and quick to make 350 RM brass. But dont make a big issue out of brass....no one is shooting F class matches with 350 RM and a few hundred cases will last most guys a lifetime of hunting.

I also have a 35 whelan in a 7600..its an EXCELLENT rifle regardless of what some folks think of pumps... a long list of very handy features: detachable dependable and reasonable mags; super easy to maintain in wet nasty weather; quick access trigger mechanism etc if you fall off a beaver dam; full floating barrel and very dependable/repeatable accuracy....not to be sneered at!
