The older BDL's are sweet looking rifles. Been looking for a 70-80's model in 7rem mag for a while. In the meantime picked up a 700 mtn lss in 280 to kill the time with. In general I think most 700's are great rifles
While I like the "Classic" stock design best, I have a few of those BDLs as well.
My older 7mm Mag shoots the 160 Accubond [VV N165] into .6 moa out as far
as I would take a shot at game. These are great rifles, no question. Some have
"dissed" the newer offerings, but I have found them still very accurate, with fit
and finished not as nice as previously built units. Dave.
I missed a Model 700 in 7mm magnum on the EE a few years ago. Came into this world in August of 62, same as my mom. That's STILL "The one that got away."
I have a 64 M700 Remy M700 ADL 7 MM rem Mag Factory Stainless Steel barrel !RJ
Classics are my favorite stock in the 700
I have only one center fire rifle now... I kept an older 700 action (#96027) with the square cut out on the rear bridge.
I trued the action and bumped the bolt, took a new Remington 243 heavy barrel, set it back and re threaded and chambered it (243) turned it down a little lighter, glassed the action and floated the barrel, had it Cerakoted, installed a Kwik Klip, decelerator pad, reworked the trigger - 2 pounds, timed the bolt for easier closure, added a Leupold 2-7x33 WXR. It shoots factory Hornady 100 grain between 1/2 and 3/4". It's probably my last rifle I will hunt with. Weighs about 7.5 pounds.
