The Remington 700 BDL

Have one in 8MM. Remington Mag. It shoots real nice with 70 Grs. IMR 4350 and 220 Gr. bullets. Four shots inside 1inch at 100 yds.

Wish they made old BDL's in 6.5 cm.

Guess I could pick one up and get a 6.5 barrel put on it.

Love good 700's.

The older BDL's are sweet looking rifles. Been looking for a 70-80's model in 7rem mag for a while. In the meantime picked up a 700 mtn lss in 280 to kill the time with. In general I think most 700's are great rifles

While I like the "Classic" stock design best, I have a few of those BDLs as well.
My older 7mm Mag shoots the 160 Accubond [VV N165] into .6 moa out as far
as I would take a shot at game. These are great rifles, no question. Some have
"dissed" the newer offerings, but I have found them still very accurate, with fit
and finished not as nice as previously built units. Dave.

I have had one bdl. Currently my circa 2001 700 LSS in 375 rum, and a 06 target rifle. Nothing wrong with model 700's, exception would be the SPS. Just didnt like the stock.

I have 4 currently after just selling my 2004 ADL in 204. Still wondering if that was smart.

Regardless, have a Classic in 35 Whelen, an 80's BDL in 22-250, a 2011 CDL SF in 7mm Magnum, and a 1988 BDL in .416 Remington Mag. The 2011 isn't the same as the others but still solid. Wouldn't buy an sps or anything like that. Love love love the old ones.

I just missed a .223 700 recently on the E&E with a brown factory McMillan stock that exactly matches my .308... late 80's early 90's I think.

Which ever one of you guys bought it wants to sell er please let me know !!

Classics are my favorite stock in the 700

I have only one center fire rifle now... I kept an older 700 action (#96027) with the square cut out on the rear bridge.

I trued the action and bumped the bolt, took a new Remington 243 heavy barrel, set it back and re threaded and chambered it (243) turned it down a little lighter, glassed the action and floated the barrel, had it Cerakoted, installed a Kwik Klip, decelerator pad, reworked the trigger - 2 pounds, timed the bolt for easier closure, added a Leupold 2-7x33 WXR. It shoots factory Hornady 100 grain between 1/2 and 3/4". It's probably my last rifle I will hunt with. Weighs about 7.5 pounds.

Friggen beautiful Dennis! I’ve always loved the look of those BDL stocks. Give me white line spacers and a thick gloss finish anyday.

Sorry to hear you’re getting out of the game

Now that's a classy looking rifle !!

Love the mods you did. All excellent improvements imo.

Very NICE rifle Dennis BUT i have one question WHY is the scope mounted so High ? is it a fitment reason ? RJ

I had the rings ... and I like more room around the bolt handle operation rather than less ... and I don't have to weld my cheek hard onto the stock.

I just installed a low set of rings... not much difference.

I have an old bdl 243 from 1962 . First year. It's got the factory 20 inch barrel. Beautiful smooth action and shoots an honest inch every day . It's one that will never leave.
