The 725’s have drop floorplate, a different safety, checkering, sling studs and cheek piece. They are awesome rifles as well. A 244 is very uncommon. Keep on him until he has a weak moment!
I have a few in my Remington collection too. A 243, 270 and a 30/06.
My buddy has a 725 in 244 remington I hound him about monthly. I think the 725 was the nicest of the old Rems. Made until 61 the 244 introduced in 1959 in the 725. I have read that Remington went to a faster twist in 1957 in the 244 after being trounced in the dual purpose round battle with the 243 winchester

The only downside I know of is that the extractors are problematic if you need to replace one. I did manage to source a spare for mine from the States but the 30-06 type are N/A.
