The rifle I will take to Africa.

I'd bet she's driving a vehicle that had/has a loan on it, to make her life better..............Also, take her with you (that always helps a lot) so she has the memories to share. Africa is mostly very "wife/family friendly" with sight seeing side trips for her and pampering like she won't see on a lot of holidays. A lot of hunt camps, especially in RSA are as good as any high end resorts anywhere in the world, a little more rustic in some cases but believe me the South Africans know how to live the good life, and how to incorporate into the hunting scene. Africa is my wife's #1 favorite holiday destination and she is neither a shooter nor hunter, but has fallen in love with the weather and life style, even in camp.

Couldn't agree more, my wife now cooks often in a potjie pot on wood coals or South African Braai style! It all goes back to the lodge and making sure she had a nice red or cider on those African sunsets off the back deck:)

Jay, you can shoot my RSM with vx3 in 1.5 -5 any time........ We should get together with Fergie.17 and do a shoot.....

And that is not meant to discredit BUM's experience.....

Sounds fun! Got a pic of it on your rifle?

Cheers
Jay

It's the best pic I could do ..... all I could do after dark on an iPhone.....

That rifle looks RIGHT with that scope! How is the eye relief wrt recoil? I don't wanna get scoped... Chuckle

And the wood on your rifle is beautiful!

Cheers
Jay

I am sure you noticed, but the RSM is front heavy, and means business overall.... I found the recoil to be easy........

Superbrad & BUM are bad influences!

I broke down & bought the Leupold VX-3 1.5-5 today at LeBaron's no tax event...

Now I'm waiting for the QD rings from Alaska Arms to show up & I'll be ready to roll! :ar15:

Cheers
Jay

Didn't we cover this already? I love the 1.5-5x Leupold, but in a 375 I would be more inclined to lean out toward a 2.5-8x Leupold. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...3-Leupold-vari-x-iii-2-5-8-x32-duplex-reticle

While I really like the classic look of the 1.5-5 Leupold on top of a DGR, I subscribe to BUM's theory. Here's a Leupold VX R 2-7X33 and a Vortex Viper 2-8X32 atop my .338 WM and .375R respectively. The VX R was robbed off my GSR for the upcoming elk season. The .338 (and possibly the .375 as well) will end up with a Leica ER 5 1.5-8X32 if I can ever find one up here in Canada. That scope, I think will give the best of both worlds. All that aside, I'm sure the 1.5-5 will do well for you.
