The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

I would like to keep both my original stock, and my g3/g36 stock functional. My thought was to buy a second trigger group parts kit, and her at 'er. I've seen others with the same. Any tips on where to order the parts, or am I better off trying to order from here:

Is this even the correct kit, if indeed they will ship to Canada? Any local source?

Thanks for the help, in advance!

Wolverine supplies had some trigger parts in stock. You can also price out the parts on RKS plus. You can leave out the locking lever and the pin for it if you want to save a few bucks. The 0-1 G36 trigger does not use that part.

So I've been thinking about getting an Sl8 for sometime now and swapping in a few mods but the I've been hearing rumors about the new HK243 S Sar and Tar, any chance we could see these soon in Canada? what would you guys think is the better option, build or wait?

with the firearms lab dragging their feet you might be better to build than wait ....

There is a guy in the states who does a job on them. I almost sent my trigger mech parts to him until I read a 50/50 hit miss with his work on HKPro. I settled in the end with just putting grease on the sear surfaces and that helped.

ok Thank you

I have a sl8 with a Nea adapter for ar mags. What keeps the mag at the proper hieght to the bolt. Is it just the mag catch. Mine has lots of slop it works fine as long as there is no upward pressure on the mag, as soon as you rest the mag on the ground the mag gets pushed up against the bolt and jams.
Is there better AR adapters.

Ring height for 3-9x40 Leupold Mark AR on UTG rail

I searched all over the Internet, and couldn't find the answer anywhere. So for the 3-9x40 Mark AR, you have to use the high rings to mount to a flat rail like the UTG. I tried both the Vortex Viper and the Leupold PRW rings. Medium is *just* too short, and even if they fit, there wouldn't be any room for a scope cover.

So now you know.

Anyone know if a G36 muzzle brake will fit on a SL8 barrel? Also, is anyone selling any conversion parts? I am interested in buying them. I see a AR magwell conversion that is for sale on the wolverine site but it says something about a new bolt stop? Does it come with the bolt stop?

SL8 barrel is not threaded, so no muzzle brake fits. If you thread the barrel to HK specifications, then the G36 brakes will fit.
HK doesn't use the typical AR15 1/2-28. They use a 15x1 right hand.

There are clamp on muzzle breaks and flash hiders from Europe made but to be honest considering there $200+ price tag and the fact that I don't trust them )secondary projectiles) your better off getting a smith to turn it down and thread it. The mag well you mention is just addressing a common complaint of mag well conversions and that is the bolt catch not working so well after the AR15 magwell installation. I did not have a Spuhr but my stock bolt catch worked fine.
