The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

I swore I would never own an SL8, but I just bought one. It has some big plans to become very unique which is the only reason I have bought one.

For now I would like a proper mag well adapter, from what I read it sounds like Spuhr is the way to go, just checked core tac and wolverine with no luck. Any suggestions?

I just bought a g36 navy 3 posistion trigger group and I am wondering do I have to switch out the internals with the sl8 ones? Or is there any way I could just leave the g36 parts in there?

Odd. Usually they come stripped of the parts. If the parts are in there my biggest concern would be that they retain FA and that would be highly illegal. If the parts are SA parts then you should be GTG. If they are G36 parts the trigger pull would be higher than the SL8 and that alone might make you want to swap.

Ok thanks for the heads up, I will have it in my hands in a few days so I will check it out fully then

I need your guys' advice on trigger parts. I bought an SL8 off the EE, everything was good until I got her to the range yesterday, lots of click, very few booms. Had only good luck with one type of ammo.

I think I found the problem though, do you guys know where I can get trigger springs? haha That spring is mangled.

Wolverine supplies might have one. You are looking for the Hammer spring, not the trigger spring I assume.

A G36 complete lower should work on your SL8 without any mods. It will not fire full auto, even if the selector is on "fun". Personally, I mixed and matched some SL8 and G36 trigger parts so that the indicator line on the selector lined up correctly, but the selector will not move to the third position. Figured it would help avoid any issues/questions. Depending on the exact model of G36 frame you might not be able to use an SL8 selector lever and still have the markings line up. I used the G36 selector lever and all the rest SL8 parts if I recall correctly.

Anyone out there still selling the HERA BCK? How can I get me one?

I had one on the SL8 I once had. Nice ergos if you don't have to hump it around. If I had another SL8 I would keep it stock or go HK 243 when they come out. See the BCK is rather thick walled aluminum and it replaces the lower/stock with about a 2lb penalty.

You'd be better off spending the money that the mag block costs on spare magazines, the HK mags are tougher and more reliable than a STANAG pattern magazine.
I had the AR magwell for my last SL8 and swapped back to the stock one. I never felt there was any advantage to running AR mags in it even though I own more than 40 of them.

My advice is, save your money for a couple of the Speer mags from Wolverine and spend the rest on quality ammo for your precision semi auto.

G36 Pmags work as well with small modification

Could anyone enlighten on where to find a g36 grip+stock to replace the silly thumb hole stock on these ? How much will that run ? Do I need a new receiver as well? The sl8 receiver seems to be mostly plastic.
