The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

180ish.

now, on to the next project. One of the idea's we are throwing around is an AR grip/stock adapter/conversion kit. If this could be brought to market for under $300 would there be interest?

Its for selfish reasons that im even considering the project. The sl8 is really growing on me............. like a tumor. with the new mag well, and then an AR adapter/grip i think the SL8 would be on par with the XCR.

The SL8 is a great rifles, its just too expensive to customize it, and there arnt that many options out there. AR stock adapter would open up the customization market HUGE! Current adapters are $700+. If you can make something similar for under $300 it would be a giant leap for the SL8! I would buy your second one (im assuming you'd want the first one for your SL8)

What I would really like is a run of G36 bayonet lugs. What software is popularly used to make the files for the CAD machine?

If I could whip up the design of the bayo-lug in AUTOcad or Solidworks or something, and then send it off to be milled, that would reduce the price of production down to material costs and the time on the milling machine, right?

If you're serious and determined:

I've used them with good results. You get better pricing in volume, and can explore that with the pricing tool.

If you make an AR type, please make it so that it has the second hole under the tube for the A2 and magpul PRS stocks.

We have these new Mag Well adapters in stock, retail is $185.00. These are far superior in fit and finish to our previous models that came from a different manufacture. We will start shipping back orders next week.

No the SL8 mag catch will not release the mag when the M15 mag well adapter is fitted. As for left handed operators, I am a lefty and have never had any difficulty performing fast mag changes with the AR15 type catch, in fact I believe a tactical reload is faster for a lefty and a speed load as fast as most right handers.

Sorry Deckard, I was misleading. The SL-8 mag well adapter has the mag release button on the left side so not as handy for us lefties when compaired to the AR15.

So you can push from the right side (a la AR) to drop the mag? If so, that is good enough for me.

Also, what about the stock adaptors. Listen, I don't own the rifle, but if these two things are sorted out, then I'd go for it. Also, some sort of muzzle brake.

See my clarification on mag button in my previous post.

Stock adapters / lowers are in design stage so months away at the best even assuming it is considered cost effective to produce.

Muzzle brakes are no problem but you will need to have the muzzle threaded

I'm seriously considering getting a SL8, are the folding stock confersion still available somewhere?

You will have to email SL8.de to see if they are still able to export. Also try GP tactical. He may be able to get a top notch or HDPS conversion.
