The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

For a mag adapter for the SL8 look at the SPUHR magwell. As for the trigger, what you see is what you get. The SL8 trigger is lighter than the G36. There is a gunsmith in the US that does trigger work on the SL8 trigger if you send him the parts, but I am not sure if he deal with Canadians. The SL8 and G36 s/a trigger will fit the HERA BCK.

Roger that on both these items. I wrongly assumed then that the G36 trigger would have been better.

The Hera Arms BCKGen2 is available from Wolverines, but who carries the HA rail sets? Perhaps Wolverines simply doesn't have them listed.

It would be interesting to know what the total weight would be with mods just talked about.

Hera BCK Gen2
SPUHR
ACR stock
G36k handguard (ligher or the two - Vs the B&T)
Shorter and re-profiled barrel with flash hider Or new barrel all together.

there is a thread about that stock at HK pro, and no I don't think anyone has been able to get their hands on a genuine HK version of that stock. I think the only ones anyone have been able to get are for airsoft guns from a company in taiwan called ME (?). I am only going from what I remember, I read that thread a while ago so you may be better to head over there and have a read for yourself.

They are expensive , but can be ordered from RKS PLUS. They may not be in stock at the moment, but you can still order. Send them an email and they will be able to answer any questions.

I put deposite to RKS for one IDZ stock 4 month ago and still waiting
trying to build a G36 IDZ (already got the "new dual optcail " the Zeiss ZO4x30 and the Z point)

and to CNADN SL8-5 I fixed the miss fire issue with the replace the hammer spring
they were too old and not give another force to hit the fire pin
but I perfer the G36 FBI lower which has mil spec 2 stage and heavier trigger too bad it won't work with SL8

Has any one tried the Troy Industry G36 k/e Battle Rail? I know there was a post earlier about it but nobody has posted any photos of it. Second, what is the general feeeling towards the B&T "K" forearm?

Don;t suppose anyone wants to trade a G36C forarm for a G36K forearm of some sorts??

I think unless I can come across some of those adapters for AR mags that were on the Hera Arms website this incarnation is done...

What make of flash hider/suppressor is that? Love it! heavy at all or not noticable? Original barrel cut and threaded or new barrel to have it mounted?

That goes back a while amigo... as I recall I liked the look of the Noveske KX-3 at the time, but didn't want to give up the G36-K flash hider. When I came across a fake suppressor that had some interesting G36 markings etched into it and was designed to twist lock onto the flash hider I just just cut it down to fit. The end of the flash hider was just behind the end cap and it would come off with a twist as required. Just a little something different... here's a better pic... you can see the flash hider on the inside of the end cap if you look hard enough.

Original SL8 barrel just cut, milled and threaded? New gas tube? ordering a bunch of things from RKS, wondering if I should order barrel parts and the G36 flash hider they carry..... its made for the "E' variant

I am planning to trim down the front part of the barreal and cut it down to 18.6"
which is MG36 barreal spec. Got a spare barreal anyway
I also got the E type flash hider and bayonet lug

the gas block should work without any problem

No issue just don't look right. I have both E and K/C style
and you can't put the G36E bayonet lug without trim down the front part
(Before the gas block ) which is the MG36 spec (G36E has the smaller profile all the way)

Now I hasnt trim down the barral yet and I have tried installed both style
flash hider. Pm me your email if guy want to see the pictures

I was on my way out to hunt on the weekend when it showed up. It took me about 15 minutes to install it at my friends kitchen table using only the HK multi tool.

The kit includes the new magwell, bolt catch and bolt catch pin. Magwell is ambidextrous, made of polymer. The new bolt catch is all metal and is ambidextrous also. The fit and finish of the magwell is excellent. I put a 100 round though it and it worked perfectly. The new extended bolt catch functions exactly like it should.

Remove factory buttstock and magwell (don't need factory magwell)
Remove factory mag release, pin and spring. ( don't need these)
Remove bolt catch pin, hammer pin, hammer springs, hammer and bolt catch. (don't need factory bolt catch and pin)
Install new extended bolt catch, factory hammer springs, hammer and new bolt catch pin.
Install buttstock and new magwell. The magwell push pin went in, but it was a little snug.

So here it is:

Just emailed coretac, they aren't selling it anymore. Im Looking into other distributors now.

"The G36 accessories will only be offered to Military, LE in large quantities from our company.
We initially started offering these products to the civilians but due to major price increase, additional duties and restriction, we have limited the offering to the governmental agencies only.
We appreciate your consideration"

A bit pissed with Coretac... got the same 'fu very much' note. Take on the full distributorship rights to an entire country and then don't distribute product... nice!

Not sure as to why they think only large LE and Mil orders is going to help them. How many Canadian agencies use the G36 vs the number of civilians that use the SL8?

I have sent an email to SPUHR about this and will see what can be done. If you are looking for one send me a PM because I'd like to know what the demand for them is.
