The SL8 Mods, Info and FAQ Thread

Is that Spuhr Magwell adapter that much better then the NEA one? I have a NEA adapter but not sure if I want to fork out for another magwell. The never ending SL8 pit of parts.
 
The spuhr adaptor is lighter, mag releases both sides, and has what I'd consider the best bolt hold open feature of all the mag adaptors I have yet tried, but if your NEA adaptor works well, then no, I would not run out and upgrade unless you want to.
 
I've skimmed through 83 pages of thread now and holy crap is there ever a lot of items continuously coming out for the SL8. What I want to know is if there are any Canadian dealers selling G36 stock conversions for the SL8. I see a lot of European or American web sites, but would like to support local. Thanks.

Also, I'm sure it was in here already, but my brain is fried with info right now, do Magpuls G36 Pmags need to be modified to fit the stock SL8 magwell?

Not really, you can see if some of them can bring it in. The HERA stuff can be bought from wolverine supplies.

You need to modify the SL8 reciever to fit the G36 PMags

Hey guys, sorry if this was covered already but has anyone else had problems with FTF? I recently bought an SL8 from a member on here and I have had numerous problems with the gun failing to fire off both Norinco 5.56x45mm and American Eagle Tactical .223. It seems like light primer strikes but it never happens if I'm using Hornady .223. I have brought it to a gunsmith and he doesn't really know what the problem is either. I've always wanted an SL8 conversion ever since I was a little kid and now that I have one I'm seriously considering trading it in on a new XCR. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
 
Check your hammer spring see if you have both side spring on tension
It's very easy to put right side spring wrong so the hammer won't strike hard enough

I had this same stupid mistake before and blame to the gun
then when I saw a completed G36 lower then I suddenly realize I didn't install the hammer spring right
Now it fires every single round no matter what I feed her
 
Installed the spuhr magwell, now i'm working on the extended bolt catch/release, could someone give me some guidance? I am wondering where material needs to be removed from to make it fit better, it sits too high and catches on the carrier right now.

1 AM, finally got my original SL8 trigger housing transferred to the HERA bck. Now the Bushmaster ACR stock won't fit as the two mounting holes do not align with the two holes on the bcd.

The rubber recoil buffer seems to be in the way. Searched for an hour trying to find a solution.

ideas? Do I need to remove the recoil buffer on the ACR?
