The STG-44 (.22cal)

At $499, that is a good price, I paid $599 for mine and it came in a cardboard box, (was hoping for the wooden one.) Picked up the sling and a couple of extra mags, and still using the iron sights on her!

I am using the STG Sling (copy) and the leather is very stiff, any way of making it more flexable? what oils are good?

Neats foot oil, available at farm supply or some shoe stores. Work that stuff in and you can make it as soft as you like.

At least one horse person I knew uses olive oil on her tack, but I've not tried that.

I got a used one from Cabela's in tan.
Fun to shoot and everyone comes up to have a look at it.
It's not an Anschutz match rifle, but it wasn't meant to be.

Don’t use that on leather. It destroys it. Get mink oil (not the type for shoes) also horse fit form oil is excellent. Go to a tack store for horses. Some saddle soap first then wipe off with water, dry and oil.

I just picked one up today, came with a 10 + a 25rd mag, picked up another 25rd as well. I saw it online a while ago, and decided, if I saw one at the show today, I'd buy it to torque a Liberal. Should be fun on gophers. And now I can be a member of the evil black gun club.

Well after the Liberal fools allowed their amatuer RCMP puppets to screw 10/22 owners over, I promptly went out and bought a STG44 and a bunch of magazines to replace my son's evil 10/22.

He is a big kid so the 9 plus pounds is not an issue.

Used a K98 sling, a MP quick detachable scope mount with a scope I had kicking around. Irons are fine, I shimmed the rear sight higher with a washer now the rear sight ramp is way down. Magazines are fine if you load them as instructed in the video.

Quality is good, it is a fun plinker that gets attention, no regrets at all.

Bolt assembley is like an AR15 .22 conversion kit, really well thought out.

Could you please link the video you referenced in your post for the correct way to load the magazines?
Thanks.

Had mine out today, pretty pleased. Sight was the only issue, cranked all the way to the left and still had 8" holdoff to hit the bull @ 50. Shot 4 boxes of Stingers thru it to start, flawless, except when trying to put an extra round on top of the mag, that would pickup and not raise the nose properly, hit the bottom of the chamber. Once I figured out not to do that, no issues. Tried mixed mags of ammo, Federal match, Yellowjackets, old Imperial and Eley Tenex, ran like a clock. Ran about 320 rds thru altogether, no FTF's, no FTE's. Shot a few decent 10rd groups when I did my part, all at 50 yds. Old eyes don't work as well as they used to, not too sure about the brain function factor either. Lost the tip of the frt blade on dark plywood, get it back on the edge of the target and forget to check level. But, managed a couple of 10rd groups that impressed me. Rest had high/lows, but , all held minute of gopher. longest high/low string was about 4" by 1-1/2" wide, for 10 rounds. Shot a couple of stumps at about 100, just having fun double tapping them. All in all, pretty pleased. Sight can be fixed, scope and mounts are on the way.

I got one with mine, works fine, just less ammo in it. Appears I found a scope mount that will work on it, Dophee Metal Tactical Low Profile Rail Scope Mount Base for G3 / MP5 Series Rifle AEG. Tried a UTG version, with the vertical screws in it, won't clamp properly. There is a pic on the sale site of the Dophee, mtd on an STG, so, it should work. It has the pivoting clamps like the stanag mount. Other than that, the various scope mounts for these guns seem to be just about non-existent to be had in Canada. Have to see if high rings are high enough to work Ok or what. I have a tall stanag style mount on order, who knows when that will show.

Why wouldn't you use an original "Schmeisser" STG 44 Scopemount"? For instance, you can get it at Gun Gear.ca

These things are wayyyyyy too much fun!!!

Every time I take it out somewhere, people want to look at it, touch it, lift it, shoot it. Once I explain that it's a .22LR semi-auto copy of the first ever "assault rifle" from WWII people just want to keep shooting it!!

That sucker's got a place in my safe for as long as I'm breathing.
