The T97 Thread!

Any thoughts on the resale value of an original shipment T97NSR? Low round count, stock/no mods, Chinese sling, aftermarket mag or two.

I've got to downsize and while this thing is top of the fun list, it may have to go. I just don't know what the market is these days.

They're worth a fair bit more these days; I think they've become collectible in fact! Assuming you have the carry handle version, I feel like $1,100-1,200 might not be unreasonable.

FYI there is someone on GP selling a Gen 1 T97 with the “Longbow” carry handle. It’s a pretty unobtanium part and I’m not sure if it’s 3D printed or if this fella actually got his hands on a legitimate Chinese PLA one. I’d post pictures but I don’t know how to on CGN.

lol. did you read the description?

Has anyone here tried to put an optic on Carry handle type97?
Yes, Red dots work great, microprims also pretty good

if yes, would putting LPVO be any practical? Thanks
My guess would be no. I have a ton of concerns about the weight and possible torque on that mounting point if it took any sort of impact, and your ability to position it to get proper eye relief.

Thank you for the reply.

Has anyone found a way to cut down on the brass denting problem
I took my gas plug to my local machinist and had him TIG weld the small port and reproduce it at .050".
It now lays the spent casings about 10 feet away at 2 o'clock.
The brass still dents a bit, but at least I can find and collect it...

BTW the hardest part of the job was disassembling the catch and spring, then putting it back in.
I didn't want to take the chance of having the spring harmed by the welding heat.

Nice, that sounds a lot more pleasant to shoot recoil-wise.

That's disappointing to hear because 2 weeks ago I sold my Gen 1 for $600 haha The sights are so bad its almost hard to use. Needed the room in the safe anyway. But I will admit the carry handle is a bit iconic looking and probably will be sought-after to collectors in the future considering its not imported anymore.

yeah, $600 is too low. i sold mine for $900 a few years ago, i think just before the 2020 ban.

Keeping the thread alive.

I've got three Type 97 trigger bars for a rifle once owned by someone else a long time ago. Free for the price of postage (when the mail gets working again). PM me. Thanks for looking - gone now.
