The T97 Thread!

How easy is that to change? Never really looked at it when I put it together. But I think I'd rather have a RH charging handle then a LH charging handle on this gun.

Super easy. Just two bolts under the FTU and it pops right out.

I like left side better but my scope mount sticks out that side. If I'm not careful I can bang up a finger with it on the left.

Part of the reason I am looking at making some extended charging handles

My experience with manually cycling the action on the right side is that a case is likely to bounce off your arm and back into the breech through the ejector port, therefore causing a jam. I was cycling manually in order to prevent my cases from getting a dent in them, plus getting flung over 25 feet away. Cycling manually leaves your cases in a neat little pile only a few feet away.

Was going to do some videos of groups with different ammo but my camera wanted to be a piece of garbage so Itl have to wait....

Brass catcher worked 100%

The metal mags already fit fine. If I shaved the magwell down they would be loose. And the mag issues I've had so far are from loose mags, not tight.

Was shooting some 4-5 shot groups. Whatever I had in the mag at the time. 100 yards. Prone.

Bushnell 3-9x scope. FTU, LHG.

Most were 1.5 to 2 inches. This one is under an inch.

Thx

Just got mine on Friday and shot it today, didn't realize it flung brass the way it did. Can someone point me to a .pdf of the manual, mine did not have one (used) and I want to know which gas setting is which. Be nice to get a modified gas plug that would reduce the gas pressure and the Olympic brass tossing, not to mention denting of my reloadable brass!

Colin no big problem. There are only the three settings.

Zero is simply 'off'. It stops the gas from returning into the piston at all.
One, should be 'normal', although it really does launch the brass.
Two, should just about launch your brass into low orbit and right out of the rifle range into the farm to your right.

I know zero is dead centre, is one to the left? thanks

There should be a little recessed number 1 or 2 over each position. On mine, muzzle pointing away from me, the bottom of the gas position "switch" is engaged to the right side.

you can also infer which position is which by looking at the gas adjustment cylinder and comparing the holes when they are in the various positions. smaller = less gas going through to operate the system

edit...the pic of the white t97 a couple of posts before this shows the gas set as it is on mine when set to one.

What kind of ammunition are you guys getting the best groups with?

I've done well with American Eagle 5.56 NATO XM855 62gr FMJ -- you can do better (I think ShawnC6 was shooting some of the heavier 75gr match ammo or some such out to 300), but this is a good price/performance point for me.

Hi everyone. Ive been looking for the original thumb mag release from qbz95 version. Has anyone got a friend in china to send these in for us or can hical or the like make one? Seems this and a trigger kit makes this one of the best deals out there. Thanks!

Also I wonder if the current MDT LSS chassis could be adapted to carry the t97 guts. Might be the best way to fix the trigger, puts the mag drop on the finger and gives peeps a ar style rifle with the same layout... sorta ;)

Tadosan, thanks for the picture!!

Had mine out to the range twice now, despite the mushy trigger this is a nice and accurate rifle to shoot. To go easy on the brass I did all my range shooting with the gas system turned off. Hopefully when some steel cased ammo comes in I will pick up some just for this rifle as I will not have to worry about damaged brass or even looking for it.

They are simply incompatible. The QBZ95 uses an AK-style rock-and-lock magazine, which is why it has that thumb catch.
