The T97 Thread!

Hi everyone, just purchased my first rifle and it is a t-97 with flat upper. really like the rifle, bought arms 71 front and rear sites. took it to the range and it was not hitting the target. i can only get access to a 25 yard range. could it be that the sites are set at 100 yards? also im looking to put a coyote scope on it eventually. was hoping someone could mention any mid price range scopes for this purpose. thank you

Unless you are very lucky, you'll have to start zeroing much closer than 25m after dropping new sights on a rifle. It's happened for me in the past, but, usually sights would not even be on paper at 25 yards out of the box (depending on the size of your targets). Particularly with the t97 since the the sights are quite high over the bore even on a flat top model.

I would suggest starting at 5 yards. Shoot a 3 round group and adjust until you are consistently 3 inches low at 5 yards. Then you can move the target out to 15 yards and it will still be on paper. Then it's just a matter of making fine adjustments and moving the target out to 25 yards. I would sight in an inch low at 25 yards for easy math. Then you'd be dead nuts at 50 yds and an inch high at 75 yds. Although I find it easiest to zero to 100 yards since I have access to that distance and then I do a 'hold over' at closer distances.

The scope I would recommend is a Nikon 3x32 P223. $200-$250? It worked well out to 200 yards for me, but, I prefer a red dot since it's not a super long range rifle anyways ...

Here's some pictures of a new shell defector I just made today. The original one that I made my shooting partner cracked it during a 3gun match. This new one I made it longer and beefer.

I used a plex pipe as a jig. To attach it I used Ultra black gasket maker and clamped it on over night. It is rock solid after it cures and you can remove it later if you need too. The second cheek riser is a Larue from a CTR stock.

If you mess up on the Kydex you can always re-heat and start over.

totally genius, where did you get that kydex sheet ?

New modified T97 on the way from China to here hopefully later this year, huge changes and looks badass, many improved design and although I am not allow to share the internal picture, get your wallet rdy.

Very good news indeed! However one thing has been on my mind, do you know if the added improvements will drive the cost upwards fairly significantly?

Lectar is on the nectar it seems.

Well I am not sure, but the guy who in charge of the new designed T97 told me he is surprised to see the 1350 dollars FTU T97 bundle on frontierfirearms. So I guess it should be cheaper than that.

Hello again, so ive been to the range twice with my new t-97 with flat upper, I am really enjoying this rifle. my only issue is i can break down the entire gun for cleaning except the gas regulator on the front. I turn the selector to horizontal but it wont budge. has anyone else had this issue?

Excellent job, thanks for posting the pics! Just waiting for my Kydex to show up then I'm copying this for sure!

I can see!!!

FTU installed, interesting enough despite my previous experiances with DIY rails this one is pretty damn straight with about 5MOA left and 4MOA up from my dials set at zero to dead center at 100M... Impressive for what it is..

The trigger still needs a lot of love... A lot.... A LOT...of love.
