The T97 Thread!

Beautiful set up by the way.
I noticed from your pic posting that your lower arm retaining pin is to be inserted left to right (towards the ejection port). I know it's not a big deal, but thought, you should know in case. :)

Hmm, this was how I received it from SFRC (with the FTU already installed), so perhaps whoever installed the FTU did not reassemble it correctly. Should I reverse the pin before firing it?

I don't think it will have any impact that I have heard of..
I guess it's mostly cosmetic, like standard configuration of how it should be assembled. But then again, there may be someone who knows a bit more about this whether it will impact your performance in anyway.

Has anyone removed or taken off the Flashhider on the T97 before? I heated up the flashhider and got the pin out np. Anyone got pics or first hand experience for the removal of the flashhider? I have a machinest buddy who is going to make me a muzzlebreak.

I been reading that it's press on, wielded and or threaded. Just want to hear from anyone who has actually removed it themselves and how they did it.

Torfi @ TSE did mine, take AR style flashhider said now. He did mentioned he did it without taking the barrel apart and built some kind of device out of wood so it would fit his lathe. Was about $130

So I was doing some regular cleaning/maintenance today. I was inspecting some of the components as I was putting the rifle back together and I noticed the "tab" part of the recoil spring guide has been experiencing quite a bit of wear on one side of it. It looks like it's being sheared off, but all other components seem fine. Does anyone know what's going on here? I've only put about 300-400 rounds through it (rough estimate)

mine looks identical 1500 rounds in

I have completed the install of the FTU. All went well.
But I have one issue.

I sent the question to T97.ca but did not get a response.

From the instructions:

Check:

Important Note: with the charging handle carrier in the forward locked position, there

must be a 1/16" gap between the rear flat of the carrier and the forward radius of the original

charging handle stub as shown below to avoid unnecessary impact with the back of the carrier.

Mine does NOT have any gap. They are touching. Is there a solution? Do I just file off some of the plastic (Delrin?) from the rear of the carrier to create a 1/16th gap?

Thanks.

One explanation ..... Charging handle is new .. takes a few cycles for it to seat all the way forward on it's own .. you may need to give it a bit of forward pressure to get to go into place .. after a while the bolt will drive it forward with enough inertia to lock it in the forward position every time .. been a year or so , but I experienced the initial tightness of the charging handle's squeeze lock. .. ck it out ..

So a while ago, someone started a thread (that I cannot find now) about his T97 sometimes firing twice with a single pull of the trigger. Well lo and behold, my T97 was behaving in the same way on its first outing yesterday. Specifically, it would sometimes chamber and fire a second round with the bolt staying closed and not ejecting the empty second casing. In addition, it would sometimes make a soft strike on the primer (leaving a visible mark) but not firing. I assume that the firing pin must be still partially forward to be causing this (although I'm not sure why the second casing wouldn't be ejected). This problem seemed to be occurring regardless of which magazine I was using (original mag, LAR, or Beowulf) -- although the smaller capacity of the original mag meant it was only seen once. There may also have been some impact from trigger pull -- the problem seemed to occur more often when I pulled the trigger more softly, whereas a hard pull all the way to the back would be fine.

Here are a couple videos of the problem in action:

So any thoughts? Should I look to see if this can be repaired under warranty or is this just one of the joys of breaking in a new T97?

Should never pop more than one off.. But in the videos it almost looks like you're accidentally bump firing it.. Have you tried pulling the trigger and holding it down? You're trying to pull and get the finger off so fast sometimes you're missing the pull.

Short of that Id say something needs to be fixed.

Just make sure when you're shooting the old charging handle isn't smashing into the non reciprocating part.
