The T97 Thread!

Just wanted to post my experience:

Few months ago I picked up a third gen t97 (thanks to everyone who convinced me to buy this, as opposed to the wk180c in the thread I made about my dilemma.)

I've taken it out about 6-7 times and probably run about 500 through it. Winchester fmj, Barnaul steel fmj, other ammunitions.

The factory mag works perfectly.
I have 2 458 Socom mags (not sure of manufacturer) which both work perfectly.
I have 4 gen 2 pmags and all work perfectly without any filing or alterations at all.

Not a single misfire or feed failure.

Mounted a vortex Sparc 2 red dot on it and am very happy with it out to 200 (haven't reached out further and probably won't.)

Cleaned once, which was incredibly simple and fast.

That's all! It performs wayyyyy better than I expected. Maybe I did get lucky and get a good one like people say - or maybe they're just good rifles. I am very impressed.

Great to hear!

What do the followers on the socom mags look like?

Been curious but thought it was either the wrong follower or was limited like Beowulf mags.

I put my Acog on and just got back from shooting.
Works great for me.
I find the weight of it seems to balance out the whole rig.
260 rounds and not a hiccup or anything coming loose.
Cheers
Jeff

Nice rig! +1 for using the new Gen3 Mlok for a tac light. Are there any two part Mlok bipods that can go on each side rail?

I use a Primary Arms 3x Prism scope, a "poor man's ACOG", on my T97 Gen 2. I find that it works the best when I mount it as low as possible, by removing the spacer in the mount.

I tried to use the same scope on mine and found eye relief being too short to use comfortably

That is the problem with compact prism scopes. I've got quite used to it, and find it comfortable and fast to shoot with. A 1-4 will provide much more generous eye relief, but I don't like the extra size and weight.

Yep, I settled on a cheap Chinese LPVO for my T97

If you mean the iltis being street legal they are.
I thought about buying a side by side ATV but chose the iltis so that I could drive the pavement and the bush.
Plus it’s fun to move my cows from pasture to pasture.

Realy? I know where a couple are sitting..I may see if he'll part with one. Not sure why I thought they couldn't be street legal

One of mine is a bushnell AR 3-9x 42.. based on that I’d guess the 18-x24 should work awesome

I've been watching loads of reviews on both.. I like the Bushnell reticle more than the Vortex. The 1-8 seems perfect.. I was going to mount my Vortex Strike Fire gen II but some magnification would be nice.

New optic came. Killed a Sparc II, they replaced it with a Sparc AR.

Old image, but I was wondering how comfortable using a red dot with a fairly high mount (enough to accommodate a magnifier) is? Is it a chin weld compared to a low mount?

Also, another question: is it fairly easy to switch the charging handle from left to right on the FTU?

It’s like a mid cheek hold. I find it very comfortable but I’m also very used to it.

On the FTU one it’s very easy. Take the upper off, 2 bolts holding it in. Slides out... slide into the other side and do the reverse.

Thanks! I'll try to switch it over to the right, that way it'll align well with the mag release when reloading.
