The Tavor: Out In The Cold, the reprint. -31C Tavor cold soak, icing, and snow pack.

This thread has seriously got me considering selling my xcr and getting a tavor. I LOVE my xcr so this is an insanely hard decision. Maybe next time I'm at my range I'll rent a tavor and try 100 rounds or so.

Edit- there's no way my girl friend would let me have both so don't even suggest it haha
Not even married yet and she's already got you by the balls, eh? :D

Good wrote up and videos. One test though I'd like to see done, is the rifle in icicle condition like that then rapidly heated up by firing it. Our stupid mag laws prevent this unless you're really fast changing them. Just see the effects of condensation, then the condensation freezing, then repeat the process. Basically freeze mag dump freeze repeat.

Should also note the real risk with freeze/thaw/freeze is ice in the bore, I don't know much about it but suspect it's even worse than liquid water / OTB in the bore. In consideration I'd be leery to try it on that account.

that doesn't change the fact , that it is an UGLY rifle

My thoughts initially, but after handling the gun many times and watching tons of YouTube reviews and pictures, it's design kinda grew on me. I love the way this gun looks like now.

Now that is something I overlooked completely. Yes, it might get a little risky.

Thank you, at $1800 like the US ones, I'd be all over it and have a hard time recommending anything else non-restricted. Due to the limitations we face with the restricted category, this is still likely my first recommendation at present for non-restricted, but that is not yet completely informed. I've used the PE90, AR180B, Mini, Robarms M96 in detail and passing familiarity with the XCR, the non-prohib Valmets in M88 and M78 trim times a few, and certainly some I'm forgetting. I prefer the Tavor so far to all of that list (though quite a few on the list have high points I really like, speaking overall), though I haven't yet had more than a quick introduction to the ACR, G36, and FN 2000 and I can only partially include the ACR in that statement, and not the FN 2000 or G36 as I simply am not that familiar with them yet beyond basic introductions. Will keep testing all I can get my hands on, and perhaps write a general non-restricted black rifle comparison / review down the road.
