The TAVOR

I have never used the MARS sight myself. I know it is illuminated and has a visible or IR laser pointer. Frankly, I don't think it is worth it for $1000, hence our supplying the gun with the less expensive M21, which is the minimum we can offer based on our deal with IWI.

Frankly the M21 ain't worth much either;), but I'll swallow it if it can be removed and other (my choice) sights can be put on. It there a rail under it? If not are there solutions to get a rail added? thnx.

From the first post:
The included sight is the Meprolight 21M reflex sight. ... It mounts to two weaver/1913 bases atop the gas tube.

It mounts to two bases, what does this mean exactly? Can we get a picture with the M21 removed and the base(s) showing or some clarification?

Lever Arms brought in 5 of the Type 97.

I have asked Dr Van Nostran to bring one out ot the TAC shoot so I can photograph both for an article for the new CSSA magazine.
WHAT!!! You dont know of the new CSSA mag? Better sign up for a mmebership right now.

Wait a sec? CSSA is printed at Quebecor aint it?

The MARS is a battery powered sight with IR laser. THe similar optic is the Insight ISM (the XM8 sight) - THe insight ISM retailed at 1000USD while the M21 is a 280USD item(and no one is buying). The one MARS available in the US got sold at 1400USD -Personally I think the price is retarded.

If you toss the M21 into garbage, and buy an Aimpoint and a mount for it, you will be out 800 bucks......there is very little market for the M21, since you will have to buy a picantinny mount for the M21 to mount it anywhere else(the mount for TAVOR is a bit too high for aR)

I would bite the bullet and get the MARS- since there is 3x pocket scope and NV designed to get on the rear mount on the butt. If I go with Aimpoint or Eotech 557, it needs a long rail for the 3X scope add on, and the rear sight is in the way. Unless you want to hack the rear sight.

Either way, if you don't like the M21, you will be out at least 800 dollars to fix the problem. So adding 200 bucks to get the MARS is in reality not significant to the overall cost.

This is one expensive rifle - like the Swiss arms, you are not going to be done without 4K to get the configuration you want. It is basicly designed around the MARS. At least if you don't like the MARS, the market price is 1400 USD while the M21 is worth nothing at all. If you decide to toss the MARS, your rifle ends up costing 2600 bucks while if you are stuck with the POS M21, you rifle is still 3000 bucks since you cannot recover anything from the M21

my impression from canarm's posts is that it needs 1000 dollars MORE than the existing M21, and M21 costs around $700 dollar Cdn... and when I asked him sometime ago, there was no chance that the M21 can be exchanged to a MARS by them...

THis is what I said. Pull a spreadsheet and crunch the numbers yourself. You will come out ahead by paying 4000bucks to get a MARS instead of 3000 bucks for a M21

Taver with MARS|: net recoverable value |:4000 -1400 = 2600
Tavor with M21 : net recoverable value 3000 - 0 = 3000

When are you bringing in the shortie/carbine?

So what is the rail in this pic, is it a custom rail to fit the tavor mounts? Can we get it and how much?

from what i understood after doing some research and watching the information video about the TAVOR is that what makes the MARS special is that it s mounted directly onto the barrel , making it more precise or something? Correct me if im wrong .....

Yes, the rails are available. No prices as yet. We will have accessories prices in the fall (bipods, rails, a-oo-ga horns, gold trim, etc)

Also, for those asking about the FRT# it is 126799. It will be in the system on Friday.
