The TAVOR

Rhdh

:(
Still awaiting my TAVOR. I am really envious of you lucky ones who have received yours. CanAm says it may be a few more weeks. Time drags while you wait for something special! All one can do is keep coming back to CGN and drool over your photos and comments. Keep on posting for we who wait, PLEASE!

So its safe to say the the Tavor with the proper optics and ammuntion is <= 1MOA. It is as I thought just need to put that Elcan Spector DR on top of my Tavor and see what it can really do. It would be nice too for an importer to acquire some 5.56 XM287 68 gr ammo or some 5.56 Mk 262 Mod 0/1 77 gr ammo for a reasonable price as 77 gr Black hills is a dollar a pop and yes I did buy one box of it to try it out. I would be in for many cases of the heavy ammo if it were to come to canada.

Yup, the tavor is a pretty accurate little gun, I easily got sub moa 5-shot groups with reloads and a falcon menace 4.5x18 (vaporizes gophers like you wouldn't believe :D). Mrsmitty you should definitely look into reloading, not only does it allow you to mitigate the slam-fire issue but its also pretty cheap. I'm making 77gn ammo for <$0.30/rnd which is cheaper than the less accurate factory 55gn stuff.

Thanks again, CanAm! 3000 rounds of various factory ammo plus some reloads from a recipe I use for my CZ.
100% enjoyment.
The ejected brass falls into one small pile and isn't bashed all to crap. This gun is just a few serious practice sessions away from becoming my all time favorite and go-to gun.
For the record though, I will likely try some other sights when my rail comes, but I don't have any particular beef with the Mepro.
Everything works great!

TYC147...

Good write up.... by chance you dont have any SS109/M855 62 Gr ammo to do the same tests with????

Since you seem to have done the 55 & 77 Gr - how about the 62gr?

The TAR21 seems to really like the 77Gr over the 55Gr but will the 62Gr group like the 77 or 55?

Its the big question..... since that (62Gr/SS109/M855) is the ammo that looks like it will be showing up here as expensive surplus..... to feed the Tavor it would be nice to see its groupings also....

I do appreciate your work - kudos to you for setting up your tavor and posting the results...

I just spoke with IWI.

All future Tavors shipped will have new bolts to accommodate an upgraded firing pin with a spring to allow use with soft primered cartridges.

These will be ready in 3 months.

No further Tavors will ship until they upgrade. (from us or IWI)

Those who have already received their Tavor will received the upgrade.

Thank you for your patience. This is one of those things that appear when you put a military gun in civie hands.

That's great to hear CanAm! Hopefully this will answer the nay-sayers who figured support would be limited for the Tavor despite the price tag.

I have a question though: will the left-hand bolts also come with the modified design? How long will we have to wait for those?

F$%K ME! Three more months?!!

All those guns just across the inlet and I can't buy one until October? Talk about frustrating.

I would happily take a standard rifle and pay for an upgraded pin/spring down the road if it meant I could have the tavor for the summer.

Is it liability at issue here? I will happily sign a waiver! :D

Thanks for the news Canam... as crappy as it is.

James
