The TAVOR

I sold my Tavor because the mepro sucked and no rail was available at the time and i had no tools to take it off . My mepro was defective as well , with the recoil the dot would come on and off . But im thinking of getting another one if i can get it without the mepro . I was thinking of putting either my NF 1-4X or maybe getting a spectre DR .

I would post some pic once I got the scope mounted. The scope is in back order because I want the NP-R2 reticle. Note: the wait for the NF compact scope back order is 6-8 weeks.

someone should come up with a barrel shroud for the 18.5" bbl.

Is that a pic of Steve Wilkos or is that Richard 'Mack' Machowicz, Im surprised he would do a poster and not be able to enscribe somewhere "Did I tell you I was with teams 1 & 2 and also the catalyst for bukido"

I must admit I do enjoy his show but it gets a little old when he pulls that 'Al Bundy' phrase out every 7 minutes " Back when......... "

Greetings, great site! I just got here.

I have a Tavor on order, I read through this thread, and I got this:
  • the Mepro sight is crap
  • there a 2 rails: one from 999 through CanAM, one from dlask. The dlask is a bit lower than the 999. Might need a riser to clear the flip up sight.
  • Some replace the Mepro with ACOG,, Aimpoint, hollow sights
Questions:
  • any point for or against one rail or the other?
  • has anyone removed the read flip-up sight? Can it be removed or must it be sawed off?
  • I would like to have some magnification on my sight, so ACOG would be my preference. But it's damn expensive! How about a "regular" scope in 1-5 x 20 mm (or something similar)?

Thanks! Nic.

-Yes the Mepro is crap - I ordered a new base from Kimber in the US for it so it did not sit so high and I still dont like it..... garbage - I find that the 'red dot' washes out on bright/lighted backgrounds.....

-I think that the rails are by choice... I think that with the DLask rail an Aimpoint and EOtech will cowitness. With the 999 rail you got a chance of mounting a scope. For an ACOG, either might work but I cant help ya. I have a 999 rail and an IOR 1.1-4 CQB 5.56 cam but need a 1.5 hight lift and a forward cantaleivered mount so it will give me the right height and eye releif... try finding Larue or ADM here in Kanukistan...... only options are GG&G or airsoft stuff......... DOH...

-The Rear SITE is on the top of the Gas Assembly. Right now CanAM has replacements for 50 with the same site.... just order one and cut it off.... keep your original for the 'whole' gun package.

My take on rails and optics is.....

EOTech or Aimpoint - Dlask rail (cowitness)
Normal scope 1-4 (NF / IOR / ect) - 999 rail - but you will need a front canaleivered mount.....
ACOG - dunno I dont have one....

IWI would not send us any bolts until we completed the courses with them. That was done a few weeks ago, now IWI is sending bolts, both types. Thank you for your patience.

Just saw this, main reason I was avoiding the Tavor.

Dammit CanAm, now I'm gonna have to buy one when you get them in. :p:D:cool:

I loved the tavor that I borrowed from CANAM. They are smooth shoting bullpup - minus the gas mark that appeared on all the shooters faces in semi-auto? Whats up with that in full auto-mode?

Shazam: Just curious, about you selling your PE-90...Tried one the other, it is by far the best .223 semi I've ever fired...However I've never tried the Tavor as of yet.

Tears. It's a bullpup thing. Actually it happened with the Negev as well. Any time there is gas present.
