Yeah, I've heard that the original A2 flash hider is really hard to remove from at least two other users. Going to leave mine on unless I've got a really good reason to replace it.

In CA's original spec sheets the barrel is listed as being threaded at 1/2"-28 - is that correct?

The only reason I wanted the change was to see the benefits of a break with recoil (not that there’s lots of recoil, just want to see how minimal I can get it) If it helps get more shots on target then it’s a success. Worst case $140 for a better looking muzzle lol.

Let us know how much of the blast/concussion is vented to the people/lanes on either side of you for that particular brake. Will you be shooting at an indoor or outdoor location?

Thank you kindly. I always try to get accurate, third-party confirmed info about specs for CA firearms because a few details I have discovered to be wrong (the first gen Templar was advertised on their website as 8.2 lbs - it was actually closer to 9.2 lbs, for example).

I needed to mount the rifle in a vice with a bev block, and use a long handled pipe wrench to get the A2 flash hider off. The crush washer would not budge, so I just reused it for the new muzzle device. Probably the most securely attached part of this rifle.

Update: sold the Templar and bought a Raven. Best thing I did. My Templar had hairline cracks in the machined metal behind the paddle, the picany rail chipped near near then end of grip, and stovepipes galore. POS. Raven has been great much better rifle

That person sent me a DM with the pictures in the post you reference - that's actually the person I reference a number of posts above when you first started asking about it. I sent them a number of suggestions but they never responded, probably because of their ban. There was actually another post, I guess since deleted, where I responded trying to help them.

So Crusader Arms sent me a new spring for my gas piston as a solution to my overtraveling gas piston issue. It appears to have solved the issue.

I dont fully remember the measurements, but it is a fair bit longer than the one i took out.

Was able to put 200+ through this weekend. From slow precise firine to some mag dumps, absolutely no issues.

How did you contact them? Thru the Crusader page or Specter?

I have a hard time getting a hold of them. I also need a new spring, mine lost its shape to the point it will no longer pass thru the gas block for cleaning.

I cant say i have any better luck. The last time i contacted them it took two weeks and calling them out on their daily instagram posts to get a reply.

In theor reply they said, "our shipping team should have contacted you already to get your shipping address".

Which i took as them covering their ass as i found no such email in any of my boxes, and our 40+ email thread has my shipping address in it at the least, 3 times.

I'm glad your issue is resolved - sorry for that it took so much effort and wasted time to get a proper response and something sent out. Looking at your spring picture, the lower spring looks substantially shorter than the springs in my rifle. If you have a chance and the time, can you measure yours and I'll measure my springs.

You have the Gen 2, correct?

CA is horrid to deal with. I sold mine part of the reason was how they claim to have lifetime warranty but they sure make it hard to use it. (Which you most likely will)

My rifle is a gen1. When i get home ill get a measurement of both springs

Heres the measurement. I took out the new spring and its quite a bit more bent up? Which is odd since i was very careful it wouldnt bind on install/ when tightening, and used a guide pin the same size as the necked down portion of the piston rod.

My springs are 8.75" uncompressed. Very different. Very strange.

Now, my upper was shipped as part of a "Dual Caliber Combo" package which included the 9mm upper and the 5.56mm upper, but I have looked at Gen 1 Templar uppers and they appear identical.

Are you perhaps measuring the recoil springs to the rear of the BCG? I know they are significantly longer. These are new and old of the gas piston spring that sits in front of the BCG.
Ill dig around and see if i can find where i wrote down the new springs length before install but it was at most 1" longer

Oh, shoot, of course. You were talking about the gas piston spring. Sorry!

Yeah, I haven't tried to remove the "gas valve pin" as CA calls it - for fear of letting the "magic gun spirits" out and my rifle not working any more. I suppose I have to do it sometime... sorry for the confusion. Rookie error.

Did the play and flex in the folding stock on the Jakl noted by the guys at 9 Hole Reviews seem consistent with the one for the Templar?
