- mojo rear sight (have yet to try though, mine have Tech 200's but thinking I'd like Mojo better, concerned about peep being so far from eye)
http://www.mojosights.com/sample-page/ak-sks/

- Tech Sight target post
http://www.tech-sights.com (click on accessories)

- TrueShoot Technologies front sight Gen.2 (remove bayo obviously)
http://www.trueshottechnologies.com/sks.html

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/20-TC-AK0684

- Blue Force Gear standard AK sling
https://www.blueforcegear.com/ak-sling.html

- flush cup sling mount on right side of butt stock

- stock fixed mag and stripper clips

- 40 ft sea container full of ammo

- only thing that would make it better is if our damn country shoved its 5 round limit up its bore hole ..

Far from stock, far from bubba but really useful upgrades imo.

Trigger job, Tech Sights, remove the bayonet, copious amounts of dirt cheap commie surp ammo.

Don't forget the target paper and the Timmie's cup with the lukewarm coffee in it.

I like becoming proficient with the rifle in its complete factory designation.
There's something to be said about carving out a skill with a tool without making things easier on yourself first. Especially despite the tools inherent short comings.

I'll find out the full cost when I go to get it tomorrow, you're in VZ58 and AR-15 territory. I put 1k down on what I was quoted then there is labor so I wont say final cost till its said and done, but it will be a few hundred more.

SKS degreased
Barrel Chop and Crown
Kick lite stock
Magwell adapter
ventilated hand guard
Murray Firing pin
Trueshot sks front sight
Trueshot sks scope mount
HBuffer
Maybe trigger job

I have an existing muzzle device and optic to put on it.
i d like to know too ...

I would bro :) ahahahah the sks will last longer

It's all about resale value......making a $1K rifle from a $200 surplus SKS makes me wonder what I could get back if not satisfied with it. (and the fact that I will never be able to bring the SKS to it original condition)

I understand what you are saying but the Mini will hold it's value

I really did think about this, and if it turns out to be a mistake, well .. .so be it. I'm not looking at resale value, because I'm sure that wont fly for 99% of the people out there. What I was looking at is a rifle that I can get for cheap, and fully work on myself with no worries, has lots of part availability and shoots affordable ammo. The SKS, bubba or not is a really great rifle that everyone should have :D

I don't know about all this.....

Seems to me if you're gonna take an SKS that far might as well get a vz58 imo.

The SKS magwell is a very interesting option but doing all that grinding to the gun and stock doesn't excite me. The more I look at it the less I like it.

I'm even second guessing the TrueShoot front sight mod. I like it a lot but remove bayo, trigger job, mojo rear sight, target TS post and GTG.

Cost effective improvements imo. For the most part I'd rather get an vz for the grand spent.

nice! I'm doing something similar with mine except staying with tapco mags and the original barrel BECAUSE I can't afford the $1000+ on a vz58.... For the $1000 spent you should be doing the trigger job FIRST in terms of functionality and practicality. Never mind the LCF....(look cool factor)

I'll be doing the trigger job myself, I think I should have just chopped and threaded the barrel instead of putting on the trueshot front. I'm not sure what I think of the kicklite yet, since I wont get out to shoot it until the weekend. I think a person should be able to build or have built a nice sks @ the 500 mark. I can see there are definitely diminishing returns on some mods give the cost.

There is no point in spending the extra money on an Izhevsk if you're just going to do all that to it unless you already have the rifle. They have no quality advantage over a Tula made SKS.

I'm looking at the Williams peep which has the old style peep sight which you can remove to give it more CQB mojo sight function as well. found it tough to decide between the Williams vs the mojo
