The wife thinks a Trijicon ACOG is overkill for a Ruger SR-22!! I said gophers can be fast moving targets and quick aquisition is key!!

I think whether or not it's overkill depends on the income/expense ratio in your household. I know people who use money to light their cigars they have so much disposable income... Not overkill for them. It may be seen as bragging by some, seeing as the SR-22 is more of a plinker than a real tactical combat rifle deserving of a $1600 scope... But hey, whatever floats your boat(load of cash).

For me, if I spent that much money on any scope it would be considered overkill. As in my wife would kill me, over and over and over...

Well I don't light cigars with money that's for sure!! And it wasn't $1600. It may be seen as bragging and maybe it is a little!! But I payed for the gun with Canadian Tire money and saved my pennies for the scope!!! Because it is what I wanted!!

I would put it on a real combat rifle if 90% of them weren't restriced!! and were cheaper to shoot.

Your wife is wrong, you are right. :) "Overkill?" Tough question. Not required for the application of course, but if you like it...then it doesn't matter. Shoot and have fun..before the gophers overrun your area! :)

My wife's comment on seeing our shooting buddy's red-dot was "isn't that kind of cheating?" She only shoots with open sights (Ruger MKIII Std 6" and S&W 22/32 target revolver) and regularly shoots my ass off with both.

IMHO That's a really nice setup you have.

The ACOG TA33 is a great little optic, I had one and then sold it to get a TA31, which I've kicked myself about since.

If you picked up the ACOG used for a reasonable price. I'm guessing the price would not be that much more than many other good quality (on par with the ACOG) optics with rings/bases.

The ACOG is a very well built optic and will last many, many years. If you decide to part with the .22 rimfire, the ACOG can be mounted on many other platforms.

The clarity, reticle illumination, field of view, eye relief, versatility and the durability of the ACOG is tough to beat. I really like an optic that doesn't require batteries to keep it working, the ACOG dual sytem is a very nice feature.

Enjoy that nice package you have put together and if you can, don't part with the ACOG unless you think a lot about it.

I payed $1150 taxes in and it was brand new!! Took it out for the first time today!! No bore sighting, put it on and went to town and was hitting beer cans at 75 yards. Want to dial it in more but it was windy and I didn't have any proper targets for sighting in. I love the SR-22! 750 rounds with out a FTF or FTE!!:ar15: A Buddy of mine has a Remington VTR 22 and can't get though a full 30 round clip with out a problem!!

I thought about the T31 and liked the feel of the T33 better!! The 4X would have been nice but the compact size is what really got me!!
