the word "custom"

It seems to me that the people that have true custom guns feel somewhat better than the rest of the people at the range and don't want anyone taking that away from them. Two guys with custom guns that I see often want to show off someone else's artwork and talk about how superior they are, because they can afford a custom rig. The one fella takes his "custom" .338 rum out of the case and tells everyone how much every piece cost, but it's zeroed at 1000 yards so I can't use it here. Why bring it to the range then? I have never seen him pull the trigger.
The other guy has a custom .338 lapua. I've never seen him shoot past 100 yards. Can't hold moa.
I can't stand guys that feel their gear makes them better. remember, if you have the best gear there's no excuses for not being the best.
 
On to more important and interesting topics. Why were these members PINKED?

Custom - modified to suit a previous owner
Bubba has done a lot of "custom" work.
I reserve the right to view your custom work as "ruined".
 
I understand what your saying, and also have a beef with the word “Rare” as well or “Rare Custom”. Of course if it truly is custom, then it would automatically be rare as it should be the only one of its kind in existence. Lots of trickery and used car salesman types on the EE that’s for sure.

Any gun modified is a custom gun. Factory or custom. Black or white.
There is no grading of custom..it can go up to made to order - one of a kind $50k + piece.

There is only one other category of guns..-the bubba guns - modified by guys who have no clue of what they are doing.

To me a full custom rifle build is when you drop off a box of aftermarket parts, action, barrel, trigger, bottom metal, stock and a gunsmith builds your gun from scratch, to your requirements.

I was at my gunsmiths one day and a guy dropped off an action and a block of wood and asked him to build a 416 Remington for an African hunt, poof a cpl months later and out pops this amazing wood stocked rifle with hand made sights and the wood stock looked like it should be in a museum it was so beautiful, full custom build and then some, maybe even a little Flach magic on that one !

Semi Custom to me is when you drop off an existing factory rifle and rebarrel, true & square the action, new stock, adjust trigger, bedding etc

If you take a factory Rem 700 SPS rifle and adjust the trigger and put a B&C stock on it and say it’s customized it’s a stretch if you ask me but the trophy is in the eye of the beholder !

But of course everyone is entitled to their opinion of what they figure is a custom rifle, you just have to decide if it fits within your standards is all.
