Exact same experience for myself. It was a very happy day for me, when that POS was gone.Ruger Mini 14. Grouped about 8" at 100.

I had a ruger m77 varmint that came with receiver ring slots milled so crooked that the scope was visibly looking "out to left field" - bore-sighting was impossible. Never fired a shot....guessing it would have been junker.
Chiappa 1886 repro, real piece of excrement.
Hands down, Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle..........incredibly inaccurate!
A friend accompanied me, as I was trying to 'sight-in' this piece of sh#t. His wife was new to shooting, and he brought her along to try out, his sporterized SMLE.
His wife after a brief introduction proceeded to hit it, again and again and again, an empty bucket @100 yards, with the .303!
The piece of sh#t mini14 could not even accomplish this @100 yards!!!
Glad it is long gone........
That is some strange quality control friend. I have an A-Bolt Micro Hunter in 22 Hornet and it's so far, flawless functioning at the range. I've had some factory ammo through it, and I am just starting load development. This looks like, it may beat out my trusty 222 as the most accurate/reliable varmint rifle in my home. It took a few years for Browning to work out the 22 Hornet magazine design for flawless function before it became, regular factory production. This rifle has even a spring loaded loading ramp, so the cartridges can feed correctly. But a friend's A-Bolt in 7mm Magnum does not have this feature, but his is equally reliable in feed/fire/ejection according to himself, as well as being accurate. My worst was an original Browning A-bolt Stalker. The bolt would regularly bind while shooting quickly and it's best groups were 3 1/2".
