The yearly Skull bleaching forum. Pics are on!

That is indeed big hardware!. A small child could swing from those braces and never be worried. lol

Grouseman, yours looks good too, a wee bit of peroxide would get rid of that pink residue.

Fwiw, the main beams were every bit as dark on the racks I've done so far before getting anywhere near the pot as they are after. I have even gone so far as to wrap them and tape them very well and it hasn't made a difference with or without the protection.

Nice job guys!

I finnally got around to taking pics of my skull(or skull plate)...
I did this in a day without boiling...I think next yr I will give it a shot with the boiling, I am just too chicken to attempt it incase it discolours my antlers....
over all I'm happy with it, for some reason the pic really contrasts the pink blood on the skull, but it is now where near that

Fester...are the bases on your antlers black from boiling or is that the natural colour of the antler?

I just had a comparison check and they did change color a bit the before photos were quite dark as well though, I really never noticed that before. That is about how deep it was in the water, I don't think you could wrap that in enough plastic to stop it from getting wet.

I like how craggly your antlers look.

Just a note fellah's, CrazyDavey's friend cleaned up a skull for him using the Cascade and he said it took litterally hours off the job for him and no bleaching was necasary. I don't know if there are different kinds of this dish washer detergent or not but it is a relief to hear it works for others and not just me. I don't know for sure what cleaning process he used before boiling it, maybe that is the difference??????
