Well judging by how you talk I don't know if I would feel safe with you around firearms. 'Ows that sound matey?! ARGHH
Just because you've been using that gun for years doesn't mean you are doing it right. As a matter of fact, as you become more comfortable with something after long repetitive use you usually end up making more mistakes then others.

No idea, nothing as far as I could tell and I couldn't follow what he was saying because it's a rifle range with people shooting rifles and I was wearing hearing protection. Hence my catch-all comment to reassure him I knew what I was doing.
Basically, "You should... BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG... and... BANGBBBBBANNG BANG BANG" followed by a quizzical look. I assume he was saying something about safety, could have been about hanging targets for all I know.

Actually my point was that it makes no bearing how long you've owned an AR as to the possibility of making a safety mistake. Like just owning one makes you a safe shooter 100% of the time (no one can claim to be 100% safe 100% of the time). The statement you made makes you sound kind of douchy.

Really? Well that was kind of what I was going for...
If someone has been handling guns for 40 or 50 years and they haven't had any mishaps to date (or purposely harmed anyone)....its my conclusion they are most likely SAFE to be around with guns.
Moose hunting with a HK91 and plinking gophers with a colt AR15 HBar....Wow, its amazing how much safer the public is now that we can do the same with a XCR-M or a 18.5" barrel Bushmaster ACR and not the former!!!!
