I am really not the best shotgunner out there, I lack hand eye coordination. I used to shoot trap fairly regularly a few years ago as we have a very active league at the club I belong to. I would get high and low scores every week and get a little discouraged. My club also offers informal skeet on Sundays. No scoring, just a handful of shooters having a good time. I actually enjoy missing at skeet as much as I enjoy hitting clays at trap.

Just my Sunday musing.
May not be the fanciest shooter out there but is something that fits me just right and breaks some birds.

good on you skeet is still the best shotgun sport out there
go on line and watch the men / woman / and mixed shooters
the worlds / olympics and such very inspiring watch and learn
I started with skeet, and I run a skeet field, but after shooting sporting clays for ten years, it is definitely the most challenging.

Awesome we have a Sunday meet as well I need get to it. Just don't know what unit to take lol

If you want to experience extreme shotgun frustration, try five stand! Very humbling.... our range runs 18 machines and some come from behind overhead, others come in pairs rolling along the ground 😩
true i'm 70 years old started shooting in 1972 shot 5000-8500 rounds a season till 97 ish then a break for 10 yrs and now occasionally absolutely love any shotgunning but skeet is what started it all and it's still has a strong hold on clay shooting

I'm thinking to do the same. I've dabbled with shotgunning a bit over the years but never really jumped into it fully. Skeet looks like a fun challenge, never done it, but thinking next week I'll go give it a try.

I am the sort of trap shooter that knows all the little tips and tricks and even enjoyed the social aspect of it. I was just very inconsistent. Had I shot several rounds a week I could probably have gotten better but just like how easy going skeet is. No pressure, everyone seems to miss a few and everyone seems to bring a couple and shoot something new every round. Although it may just be a little looser at my club than others.

Our club is very informal, as well, whether you shoot clean, or miss a lot, it's all about enjoying ourselves. We don't even use scoresheets, but we do notice who shoots clean, and I do hand out patches as people earn them.

That's cool and any gun that fits and you shoot well is a good clays gun.
I'm at trap shooter at heart but also enjoy skeet. Only problem is the skeet field is in city limits and they have to put up shot curtains and can only do that on calm days.
So I'm still waiting to start this year's quest to get my 25 straight patch in skeet 🤓😬

I enjoy handing out patches, but being a small club, I only get to hand out a 25 patch or so per year, and no 50,75 or 100 patches, since I became skeet chair 7 years ago.

Yes patches are hard to get, I have only had 2 x 100 straights in trap over the years and only 1 of them was in a registered event, always seem to miss one here or there, usually it's a straight away that a guy blows over top

Yet that is what just happened to me lol 😆 oh well I just like collecting patches not to brag but I collected patches since I was a kid.
Rock patches when I was in high school and military patches and shooting patches.
