Thinking about a TC Encore Prohunter

Where can you get one in Canada? I have looked an only two or three after looking at about 10 different retailers.

I would love to get one. I like the idea of being able to change calibers with a simple barrel change.

Didn't bother with an oversized hinge pin on my pro hunter, shoots less than 1" at 100 yards.

I love the feel of shouldering that rifle. The heavy barrel and pistol grip stock makes it come up and swing so smoothly.

I got the oversize pin but stock trigger.

ML, 308 and a 12 ga turkey barrel.

Had plenty other barrels that I've sold off. Just sold a 12 ga slug barrel on Saturday.

The guns are more that accurate enough for hunting and playing.

I get sick of swapping barrels though and having to test shoot the next barrel. They always seemed to be on still though. Has anyone ever had to do a major sight adjustment when putting a different barrel on???

One thing to remember is that the gun requires different forearms for rifle, shotgun and ML.

i've never really had to do much adjusting with any of my barrels, just very minor adjustments at 100yrds. they maybe an inch or two off and sometimes right on. usually not a problem, i try to get quality optics and they track really well and i'm usually right on with my second shot. exept that tasco on the 22-250, it's held up but get blurry if you use the zoom past 8. one thing i did notice is with my 375 H&H barrel that the barrel gets really hot and tends to rise after the second shot (about 3") if not let cool.

if you want a pro hunter with muzzleloader barrel, lebaron and prairie gun traders have them in stock and if you want one with 204, 223, 22-250 barrel on it prairie gun traders have them in stock as well as a few barrels.

Personally the tc deminsion for a rifle seems like a better deal. Never could figure out the big deal with a single shot gun that costs almost $1000 bucks. Look up the deminsion it is a new platform rifle that TC is introducing that you can switch barrels. Cheap and makes more sense. Single shot guns are just for smoke poles. Why limit yourself to one shot with a rifle? www.Arcinter.com The have them in their site. Trust me this gun makes more sense. Also from TC. You can even have one base for this gun so you keep the scope on the rifle and change barrels. Alot cheaper than buying a scope for each tc encore barrel.

i haven't tried or seen a dimension exept for ads in mags or on tv. but i do love my encores and and never feal like it's a limiting factor. don't think i'll ever get rid of them. have other single shot rifles like ruger #1's and also have bolt action rifles but i use my encores for all my hunting. to each there own i guess. as for it beeing cheaper it very well might be, but for "myself" i don't care about price. if it works and i like it that's what i'm going with. having one scope for a rifle with multple barrels just doesn't do it for me, i like a little longer eye relief for certain cals and like having the flexability of more zoom with others. but again, to each there own. and that's just my two cents.

Go buy 3 or 4 Stevens 200.

Cheap and more than one shot.

Jo Brooks has some and they just got a shipment of barrels, apparently they moved the factory and haven't shipped anything until recently

The pro hunter with the single shot barrel allows for a long barrel while still keeping a relatively short rifle. because you do not have the extra 5 or 6 inches taken up by the action

Mike Bellm should be taken with a grain of salt as he has a personal hate on for TC over some kind of failed business deal

The dimension is an ugly gun when seen in person, and it is not a simple barrel swap you also have to change the bolt and the clip depending on which calibers you choose to shoot. Though they are colour co-ordinated for the hard of thinking

when i was having a problem with my 12ga barrel the manager of the service department, can't remember his name, also told me that they were losing quite a few employees and new people were beeing put in place. one was the person that delt with the exporting of goods for T/C and they had let export licences lapse and could be quite some time before everything would be staightened out. mind you this all happened last summer for me. they offered me any barrel that they had in stock at ultimate accuracy and even a venture to replace that 12ga barrel.

How fast can you guys reload for a second shot?

I'm thinking almost as fast as many shoot a bolt action but you tell me...

The following video is me playing around seeing how fast I can reload one of my Contender carbines this one is chambered in 375JDJ loaded with 225gr @ appr 2400fps.

While not a Encore/Prohunter the original smaller T/C Contender carbine are the rifle/action that Encore's were designed from they have the exact extractor system as an Encore.

Thats pretty fast shooting there Cam!

Camp, that is good/fast shooting. I have wanted to try this with my Thompson but haven`t yet. Do you think it would be any faster if you pulled the shell out with your hand. I saw a predator hunting video where the guy did it like that and it was fast too.
As for accuracy, 5 shots covered by a nickle at 100 with my .223. That`s my best ever. Only done the Bellum trigger spring.

I'm thinking it may be just as fast to pull the empty case out of the barrel but it definitely isn't as much fun doing it that way... :D

My 21" factory tapered stainless 223 barrel is crazy accurate with 40gr V-Max and H322 powder I have repeatedly gotten 1 1/4" 3 shot 300 yard groups with this combo amazes me every time I shoot it.

Now if I only could just grow to like/appreciate the 223 more I find it stays in the safe because I am grabbing something else that has a little more oomph.
