Do Aimpoint seem like a good choice? I would only be using the gun for under 100m range. I have a 14.5" M4 style AR. Thoughts?

Depends on your preference.

Aimpoint or Eotech, depends on what you like better.

I like the Eotech one, some people are the opposite.

Then it is just a matter of practice...

EOtech for me, I like the big screen and the circle/dot reticle. If you go this way get the AA battery version, not the N battery powered unit.

There is a CR123 powered EO out there, not sure how that one stacks up, but the AA power has never disappointed me.

Aimpoint or Eotech. Which ever one does it for you best. Also look at a TA31 line of ACOGS which can be used like a red dot with both eyes open or 4x with one eye.

I have an Aimpoint Comp M4s on my AR and have been very happy with it. Completed the LMS Defense carbine course with it a couple of weekends ago and it worked great.

i had a bushnell trophy red dot laying around that i mounted on my AR, wasnt impressed with it as thats not my cup of tea, longer range accuracy wasnt great (big dot blotted out target) but inside 100 yards its a good cheaper option.

I recently bought an Aimpoint M4s from The Shooting Edge with the intent to bring it overseas with me.

I am currently issued an EoTech and don't trust it for a variety of reasons that have been covered on this and other sites.

You won't go wrong with either the M4 or the T1 micro from Aimpoint.

I have had two eotechs, 551 and 552 - both had problems retaining zero and failure in low temperature. Eotech fixed them - but I don't need sights that work only after going back to the factory.

Eotech's lastest fiasco with the 553 and the 557 really tell you about their quality controll process over parts made by 3rd party vendors, as well as their mentality within management and repair departement.

Like the man said, Bushnell Trophy Red Dot under 100 yards can't be beat. I've been using it at 3 gun matches for about 9-10 years now. Price was right, I'm not a mall ninja and I'm not on the next plane for Iraq so for weekend 3 gun matches it does what I need it to. Outside 100 yards, it sucks for precision shooting, but I can regularly hit a 12" gong at 300 yds with it. Not bad for a 14" barrelled AR.

I have the Eotech 512 with the GG&G lever and I love it. No problem so far, but then again I pamper my gun stuff...

I think you can't go wrong with Aimpoint or Eotech.

I have an Aimpoint on my M14, and an EO-Tech on my AR both are really good. If I had to choose between the two of them I would pick the EO-Tech.........I think?

I have an aimpoint comp M3. I looooove it out to 100 yards. 200 is just barely doable for 12" targets if the gun is rested as mine has the 4 MOA dot. I love the fact that I could leave the thing on for a year or two and the battery just won't die. I bought the ARM mount that is quick detach so it works well with my BUIS and on my Robinson XCR the Aimpoint and the BUIS co-witness perfectly. It is great in the daylight and even better at night as it has 7 different brightness setting for the dot. the first three are for nightvision (i wish) but the rest are for night, twilight and day use. I love the paralax free shooting. It doesn't matter is your eye is positioned perfectly behind the scope centered in the exit pupil. Even if you are looking through the aimpoint sideways, wherever the dot is is where the bullet will go. You will not regret the aimpoint.
