Thinking of buying CZ? Think twice!

I don't know why you decided to do an elaborate bedding job on a new gun, as for the burrs, use a number drill (a # 3 or 2) and carefully rotate it by hand in the chamber until the burrs are gone. Make a tube by cutting off the back of a spend .22 cartridge to use as a guide.

Yikes Try that with your own gun and let us know how it went!

Even for their pistols it's impossible to find extra barrels every retailer should have a whack of parts.

You must use a lot of duct tape.

Yeah, I hope they have a shipment of parts en route to Canada soon, the first cz-75 sp-01 slide-stop I can find I'm buying...maybe even two. Haven't shot that pistol for over 6 months now.

It looks like the reamer was dull, and it pushed the metal off the land instead of cutting it. If you run a sharp reamer in, it won't take much to cut the throat a bit, which will cause the smeared land to fall off.

Running in a good sharp reamer would be very much worth trying. Would only take a moment, and could make a real difference. Certainly worth trying.

Stick with the ammo used for targets 1-4 ?

Rabid - where in ON are you? I have regular and "match" reamers.
I am in the GTA. Over on RFC it has been suggested that my chamber "missed" the final reaming and only got the "rough" ream. This is characterized by the short, 45ish degree ramp up to the lands of the rifling compared to my other rifles that all show a much more gradual transition.

Same ammo was used in the target pic on page 1 here, and this is another example. Sometimes the fouling finds a happy place but it always goes back to shooting wild. It does not matter what ammo is used the overall group pattern exists in them all and therefore is not ammo related. I feel if it were not for the chamber defect the barrel itself is actually quite accurate.

I hope you take tiriaq up on his offer, the barrel is pooched and at least that has a chance of fixing it. I haven't looked at how a 455 barrel is held on but maybe the chamber end can be cut down some and the shoulder and attachment point moved up the barrel some and a new chamber cut. Maybe talk to 10mark22 on here as he does something like this for 10/22 barrels and it works really well.

I just watched a barrel swap video and I don't see any reason why you couldn't get rid of that whole chamber and cut a new shoulder, tenon?, chamber and extractor groove on the stock barrel. I would have to have one in my hand to be sure but it sure looks like it could be done.

That said it is really the pits that you would have to do that to a new gun and the maker wouldn't just give you a new barrel. And what a cop out "the warranty is only for stuff you can see" I won't be buying a CZ now, that's for sure.

Why not just search out a stock replacement barrel. Put it back together ,test it and then sell it on the EE. Sometimes you just have to take a hit and move on. I just bought a sightron fixed 36x last month from Hirsch, didn't like the fine reticle. I put it on the EE and took a bit of a hit and moved on. This doesn't mean all 455s are bad. Unfortunately you got a lemon.,happens to often doesn't mean they are all bad. My 455 is a shooter.

hahahhahahahahhahahahahh

ladies and gentlemen Bubba himself!

No savagecanuck I will not buy another CZ product even if it is to sell this one. Besides I've already put in my lilja order so I will be keeping it for a good long time! This is less about the barrel being bad and more about CZ not remedying the situation.

Pretty disgusting given that one pays extra for the quality/accuracy of a CZ. Can understand that kind of policy for a rock bottom price NORC that you know you are taking a chance in refinement quality and accuracy.

Are you really paying that much extra? I don't think cz is charging enough for any kind of accuracy guarantee. There are just too many variables.
