This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

Depends on who you talk to and about what. Not everyone is going to be an expert in all fields. But next time come see me and perhaps I can change that perspective. Ask for Cody at the gun counter - I am always up for a chat.
But to say people behind the counter know little makes me think you had 1 experience with 1 person and are painting everyone with the same brush.

Fair enough. I've had two experiences there in the two time I've visited, and heard about a few others, but your right about painting everyone with the same brush.
I will ask for cody next time im in.

The price on bulk packs has been steadily rising. Last summer M22 was $54 @ CT now it's $65.Last spring I was getting 525 federal bulk for $24 , can't even find it lately. I bought some 325 packs of federal match for $19.99 last year and found some yesterday at wholesale sports but now $22.The price just keeps climbing. I'll be checking a few local stores in January as I was told that's the best time too stock up, only if the price is reasonable. Where getting gouged right now, high US dollar not helping. I am lucky I probably have 15K in my stash.

You guys have to keep an eye open for sales or deals and then buy in bulk. I recently saw CCI quiet cases on sale, 199.00/5000rnds. I got plenty already but at that price I was tempted to add another case or two to the pile. I started building my stash 3-4 years ago and am at the point where I feel comfortable waiting out any droughts. If you are just starting to build your stash only buy what you need to keep shooting, save your money to buy in bulk when you stumble on that sale.

I feel like a broken record saying all this. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Look forward to it :).
As for the price of primers, you are correct there is no price break on buying bulk (unless advertised as such). I cannot confirm the reasoning behind it, but my guess is because of the big-box-store mentality. The company runs off products that are inventoried into the system at a set price - unless it has an article number created for that purchase, it will not go through.
For example, the primers. The price individually is the $4.99, and as of the system, each unit is charged that price. Whether it be 1, or 1000 of them. I am not apart of the buying team, but I would expect they purchase from CCI a set amount of primers for a certain price, and in turn that price comes down to what is reflected in store after mark-up. This question would definitely be better fielded by someone on the "true" inside of operations of buying.

That being said, Cabelas does price match. Should you find those primers, in bulk, at a cheaper price (the exceptions being it needs to be within reasonable distance of the store, and of course, in stock at said store), the store gladly gives you that price.

As someone who has been involved in the steel industry for 10+ years I have been through 2 cycles of boom/bust steel prices, I can guarantee that this ammo shortage will be over eventually and prices will come down. Hopefully faster than what most think.

Dealers/Manufacturers will be choking on the stuff and will be forced to drop prices, offer mail in rebates, etc.

If I need something, I buy it. There is no need for me stock up on anything right now.

the price will never go back down. so buy it now because these are soon going to be the good old days of buying a brick of CCI for $50

Me too... I'm down to my last 20,000 rounds. That should cover me through this drought.

Just under 20,000 Yellow Jackets. 4000 Winchester Super X of some kind.

Where I am the gophers got flooded out. That'll last us a while.

Can't recall what I paid for 22LR. Was years ago & I've always bought alot more than I thought I would use.

Bought packs of 525 remington golden bullet to plink away a year ago for 22$ each. Saw some last week at crappy tire for 45$ !!!! And the bucket-o-bullet right beside it for 69.95$... Walked out with 4 ;)

20 000 yellow jacket ?!?! Wow I need to find at least a brick of my favorite gopher ammo !!

Maybe all you flatlanders have a hard time finding it. Every time I walk through my LGS I see a shelf full of ammo. Just come out to the wet coast.

There seems to always be 50 rnd. packs available. I personally would never buy .22 50 rnds. at a time, too expensive . I'm looking for the 500 rnd+ packs. What I would really like to do is buy a case of 5000. Any retailers out there have any?

i second this post.
the gun dealer in new brunswick states on his web site they sell 5000 remi t-bolts for $219.00.....but then around $50-$60 to ship it.

I was in omaha nebraska week ago. Looked at the shelves at bass pro: No rimfire ammo of any kind. ZERO. no Shorts Longs no LR no 17 hmr or 22 mag. I will be cutting down on rimfire guns. Last i bought at the show... $34 for 525 federal bulk. Some ask $50 for 500.

The "good thing" about the .22lr shortage is I'm finding more cheap 7.62x54 ammo avail and shooting my fire breathing Polish MN more:)…….
