This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

I should start selling a few bulk packs of that blue box federal crap I have laying around, might be able to get my money back on it.

Just curiosity... I know there are guys that actually do have .22 from the 70's, but would the .22 made today last 40 years? I mean, let's take golden bullets... I've got some that are so poorly put together that you can almost pull the bullet out of the jacket. I can't imagine that unless they were vacuum packed that they would be viable in 10 years much less 40. Was .22 just that much better made back then?

I don't think I've come across a 'loose' CCI, but I think I've had a couple of wobbly 333's or the 555's. So I guess the second question...what would you buy today and think it might last a few decades (besides the federal vacuum packed tins) ??

Haha.... Last time I tried to sell a few bricks of Winchester Dynapoint for less than store price, I couldn't find a buyer. Luckily, I bought a rifle that likes them. Now, people would even buy the empty boxes.

this thread reminds me of buzzards circling around an animal dying of thirst in the desert. my local Can Tire has 3 boxes of fed red box and one box of Remmy yellow jackets behind the glass. there must be an unspoken gentlemens' promise in effect not to buy unless circumstances are dire, walk away with dignity intact.

Just curious from everyone. Which brands and types seem most popular and are you using them mostly in semi-autos or other? Yes I know CCI mini-mags are up there. More curious on whatever one else likes or if they're picky.

I use remington golden bullets in my semi auto pistol runs about 99%, cci mini mags run 100%.

In another note I was at the gun shop today actually saw 22lr on the shelf for the first time in a year.

10/22 doesn't like cheap stuff or "target" ammo. It likes american eagle

A 10-22 must shoot anything, including cheap bulk ammunition. There is a problem. Have you tried with another magazine ?

Also, with the polishing of the hammer font face and the radiusing of the rear of the bolt, yes you can shoot low velocity target ammunition. There is probably a tutorial on Youtub.

Enjoy shooting

A new $150 bolt will do the trick.

Mine has shot and cycled everything ive fed it so far. Everything from Winchester Wildcat (bottom of the barrel IMO) and up. Its completely stock (with the exception of BC Steel lips mags), and ive owned it since new.

As for the shortage, I can get bricks of Wildcat or Golden Bullet around here with no issues other then price. Both are $40+

i dont know how close you are to the north west GTA but if you are in the area i have an almost full box of golden bullet (maybe used 10 rounds) that i would be willing to sell for $20. my new rifle doesnt like it so much.
