This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

in England they are limited to a very small amount of ammo at home.

I was allowed 1000 […] Others were allowed less.

If you apply for a licence and tell the Firearms Licensing Officer you don't compete, and will only go to the club every other month or something, they will limit you to 50 rounds you may possess at once. ONE BOX!

The English national shooting team doesn't practice on the island; they go to France, Norway, Germany…

Had recently purchased a GP X-Cal from a retailer in the Sault. Not a .22 but the guys up there said they are expecting a rather large shipment of .22 from Aguila in the next short while. They took my number and said they would give me a shout when it arrives. I'll repost when I get the call. They are new and eager so I will definitely get a call. Cheers.

If we would quit buying all the ammo we see, and only what we will need for the next year or 2, there would be some left for the guy looking for a couple boxes. Many have been hoarding for years, we have enough for the next 10 years. I also remember those at the gun shows that are gouging the public and will not buy from them in the future. JMHO.

What is CIL?

You can get some 22 ammo here in SW Nova Scotia, but CCI sub sonic is hard to find. Would like to find a bunch as thats what my Savage Mark II and BSA seem to like the best. Friend of mine got some Eley but had a couple duds $7/50. Saw some Lapua,Eley and other high end stuff around but way too pricey for my liking and the CCI is plenty accurate for the price.

I know i am bad for hoarding, if they have it i buy it, i buy it all.

I know some people will piss and moan, but with the prices always climbing, i buy it at todays price, fearing tomorrows increase.

Also, i spend the time looking for deals, and availability, and am very diligent in my hunting of supplies, so if they are in the shelf, i buy them (cost depending).

There are places you can aquire thunderbolts for less than 40 a box, noone forced the original poster to pay that, he just did not look around for a better deal. this is not the hoarders fault but lack of initiative on the buyers part to price check the competition.

I buy walmart and canadian tire out of their bulk .22 every chance i get when it is priced properly, leaving the remington overpriced stuff on the shelf as it burns dirty and is way overpriced. This is just plain and simple economics.

It's also a self-fulfilling prophecy. You are driving up your own ammunition prices by continuing to provide a vast demand where there really is none.

Not so, as the savings across bulk purchases will offset increases in the future, plus the way i see it is it will never go down again anyways, and if it does than it was worth the risk.

I invest in metals, gold, silver, lead and brass. I dont mind holding on to it as it will never lose its value

also, when you blow through 1-2k rounds when at the range, it makes sense to purchase in bulk whenever i can, because they may not be there for that price tomorrow.

Island Outfitters stocks multiple types of .22 lr ammo, as well as John Pullen's store, both reasonably priced. well below the $40 per 500 range, plus more selection.

of course, if any local Victoria people are having a really hard time finding food for the pigs, PM me and i will do my best to help out, i may be a bit of a hoarder, but i'm far from an A$$*^#e and really would not mind helping someone out in a pinch
