This is exciting news for M14 lovers

Sorry to hear that Jerry , Thanks for keeping us posted .
On a side note I read on a different site that a handguard comes with it.
But in the video it didnt have one....I assume a handguard is not included.
Which is too bad becuase I just sold my extra one...lol...

I am really looking forward to my new stock and I can harldy wait. Forgive me if this was addressed in an earlier post, but is there any risk that these would not be allowed to be exported from the U.S. because the stock is designed for a "military weapon" (M14)?

No the manufacture states it's for the M1A

Promag Description: AAM1A- Archangel M1A Precision Stock (Springfield M1A) - Black

There is a thread going about the promag stock in m14forum...one guy says he's installed one and took about 4 hours and some dremeling to get it to fit right. Should be interesting to see what the change is that they had to call for the stocks back...I'm definitely interested in getting one to replace the so-so stock that came with it.

Ok...just got back from a buddy's place in the U.S. and got to see one of these Promag M1A stocks up close and personal. I gotta say for the money it's definitely cool (I'm so getting one now!). With my buddy it didn't take 4 hours of fitting or anything like that...but it did take some dremeling in 2 spots...one spot right under the operating rod (so the stock would sit flush to the receiver). The other was those "wings" of the trigger group (where it meets the stock right behind the mag release). Maybe 5 minutes total dremeling and another 5 for fitting (it was tight). Didn't get to fire it or anything but it really make the rifle look a hundred times better (IMHO). By the way...border lineups are horrible today...WOW!

Brordo what is your friend using for a handguard , as I believe it dosn,t come with one .
I am really looking forward to getting mine....Anyone know what the issue was and why they had to be revised ???

He's using the handguard original to the M1A...you're right that one doesn't come with the kit. I also would like to know what the revision for us up here in the north is.

I talked to someone at ProMag by phone yesterday.
He said that it will take a bit of time to get export permits sorted out.
He had heard estimates of anywhere from 6 weeks to 8 months!
But they are aware of the Canadian market.

Good to know. I would love pictures of the interior of the stock (ie contact area with the receiver)?? Any possibilities?

I guess it's exciting that someone has taken someone else's product and made an exact copy, except presumably of crappier quality. Maybe they should have worked on developing their own stock. Problem is you rapidly discover that you can't make it that cheap if you have to do all your own development and actually provide a quality product, both at the same time. I have no use for people who just rip of the ideas of others to make a quick buck and I won't buy this even at the price that is being bandied about.

:agree:

You get what you pay for... It will be interesting to see how good of a ripoff it is.

It's not an "exact copy" of the JAE stock (Which is the gold standard, as are many top stocks for the M14, M14s, 305's etc.). An uninformed person might confuse the stocks at a glance, but not when seeing them together. You consider the JAE stock and all the additional components you can get and attach to make a custom stock, Wow no comparison, not even close.

I can agree it is not the same, but for those of us who can't afford a JAE stock maybe this promag is an option. I also add no one has reviewed the stock in detail, other than what we have seen. I've looked for more reviews etc. amongst the barrage of "it's a rip off and it's a clone" chatter. Hey if it's crap, I'm not buying one.

But until I see a good review, I'll keep looking on the horizon for positive news.

Well, boys and Girls, a small batch of stocks are now onroute to me :)

I will be contacting the preorders again with invoices in the order they booked.

There is only 14 stocks on this first batch so there is going to be a number that are not contacted.

Promag is starting to ramp up production on this item so I hope that the rest of the orders will be taken care of in the coming month or so. There is no firm ETA.

If you do not receive an invoice by Monday, please don't fret, your place in line is still maintained AND you will get one in time.

Thanks for all that have preordered and let's hope everyone can have a new stock shortly

Jerry

There is a good review of the stock on M14forum, while they need some fitting, they look very exciting. From what I have seen they look to be several steps up from the stock plastic norinco stock.
