This season's moose rifle

I'm not packing semi's this year I'm going the opposite extreme = I am planning on packing 2 single shot rifles my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine chambered in 338JDJ #2 loaded with 180gr Accubonds @ 2500fps and my shortened to 22" barreled T/C Prohunter in 375H&H loaded with 250gr TTSX @ 2600fps.

338JDJ #2

375H&H

Took Marlin 45/70 guide gun, williams peep sight with Hsm Bear load 430 grain hardcast @ 1800 fps ( advertised). Did the job at 13 paces. Also had in the gun boot Brno ZKK 602 300 win mag Bushnell 6500 series, 220 grain Nosler Partition for the longer shot which never came.

The NEW KING did the job on another moose this year! Perfect size bull for good meat quantity and quality, and died right on the road too! Cant get better than that!

A 250gr TTSX to the chest made soup out of his lungs. He still wanted to walk a bit and I wanted him to stay put so I put one in the neck behind his ear and he dropped. :)

Love pictures like these. Nice rifle and cartridge with a good looking bull. My moose rifle is also my deer/bear rifle, its a Ruger African in 338 Win Mag with 250gr pills. Im also using my zastava 7x64 and 8x57, it all depends what i feel like taking out that day. Down side to the area I hunt is that its only a 2 week season and its spike-fork only. Its the equivalent of trying to find a pin in a haystack.

One of these 2!!

:) I have the same, which was passed on to me when my Dad passed away. Mine is a Husqvarna model 4000 light weight with VERY nicely figured wood and it was Dad's pride & joy. I used it on my first Mule Deer hunt on draw in Alberta with my Daughter and Son In Law. When the time comes ;), at my Daughters request, it will be passed on to my eldest Granddaughter. Besides myself, ;) she's one of the very few others in the family that's right handed.

Well done, Gatehouse! That's an awesome picture and *very* convenient location to dress it down.

I've been drawn for late season bull moose. I intend to hunt with my.A-bolt II in the venerable 325wsm. I already nailed a nice blackbear with it this fall. A friend of mine (who also shoots 325) refers to his as "bang-flop" as that's what happens every time he puts hair in the scope.

:)Nice, and I recall seeing photos of that in past. My luck on a Moose hunt this year is about the same as yours, :(but for different reasons. My Sister and I share ownership of the family summer cabin in the B.C. central interior, in MU area 5. No Moose openings in that area these days but there are a short distance to the North. Another reason to curtail Moose efforts this year for me is I'm at the end 'dealings' of a medical issue so I'll put Mr. Moose on the back burner this year. NEXT season, for Moose, I have to pick between a couple of rifles/calibres I've obtained fairly recently, from a couple gentlemen on this site. A Husqvarna 1651 in 358NM and ;) a custom Remington 700 in ;)375Chatfield Taylor.
