Luckyorwhat said:In Fantasyland, if AI released a 30-round magazine for their bolt rifles, and Joe Smith designed a semi-auto rifle that would function with the 30-round .308 AI magazine, would that make the magazine prohibited even for the bolt gun? Or is that just what the RCMP would declare, to hell with the law?
First you must remember that you're trying to make sense of something nonsensical (our gun laws). Don't try too hard
Secondly, if a new bolt gun or pistol comes out and has magazines manufactured specifically for it with a 10rnd capacity, and those mags just HAPPEN to fit into an AR15 it's fine- as demonstrated clearly in this thread. However, if a bolt/pump/pistol is released and advertised as being able to use AR15 mags, all bets are off. Magazines manufactured for that gun will always be deemed as AR15 mags and hence restricted to 5rnd cap.
Remember that the magazine itself is subject to these restrictions, and not the gun it attaches to. If it was the other way around, the 7615 argument would be valid and we'd all be buying 7615 high-cap mags.
