So, all my rimfires have been bolt actions up until now. I've always been an accuracy over volume type of shooter and see no attraction in a 10/22 at all. A couple of weeks ago I bought a 22/45 off the EE for cheap handgun practice (I need lots of practice...:D). I got it on tuesday and got out to the range yesterday to test drive it and another new pistol I got a couple of weeks ago. The Ruger was a blast! I put well over 300 rounds through it and had a great time. It is very accurate and I shot it very well. It rained for a while, so we stayed in the shack and shot at balloons from 25yds and I had no problem hitting them regularly. Shot one ~6" group from 25yds off hand as well.

Only problem is I am going to need to buy stock in Winchester at the rate I was burning up the Dynapoints. I see trouble on the horizon...:D

Get a 10/22 you will love it...........

yep, this man needs 10/22. i was never into the plinking and shooting alot of bullets thing till i got my first 10/22, i liked shooting but there was always that thing in the back of my mind about the cost of ammo. .22 ammo being relatively cheap to anything else its a great way to just enjoy shooting without any worries.

Get at least one semi rimfire. 10/22's are a bit cursed, but fun. You may need to work on it to get it as accurate as you want, and replace the trigger, but d@mn if they ain't fun. Three simple words. No limit magazine. It's a blast to be able to shoot 25 rounds, 30 rounds, 50 rounds without having to reload.

Just spraying them has never appealed to me, I prefer the sniper approach of one shot, one kill. But it was sure easy to shoot a lot with the Ruger. BTW, it's not my first pistol, just the first one in 22. I have 2 9mm semi's as well.

Part of the reason the 10/22 doesn't appeal is they are everywhere and seem to need significant work before they shoot well. I may buy a semi-auto rifle, but I doubt it will be the Ruger. There are lots of choices around to satisfy that itch.

There is always the Charger option.
Heck of a lot of fun to plink with and darn acurate! (even when left bone stock)
+1 for the ultimate cliploader to go with it.

Once you go 10/22 you never go back...

They say only accurate rifles are interesting, but really, who the hell cares when your pumping through 25 shot magazines in no time :D

Just wait until you get the ultimate cliploader. :)

Got one with the pistol, and 4 mags as well. That thing is one of the slickest pieces I have seen in a long time, works very well. It is a big part of why it is easy to burn through 300+ rounds in a couple of hours without trying.

I went out with a friend tonight and we put another 350-400 rounds through the 22/45. She loved it too, it is just a lot of fun to shoot at very low cost.

My 10/22 is scary accurate. I like 25rd mags (I have 8) but usually run the 10's as I think they look silly in my gun. I am going to get some of the smaller ones and try them. Sure is nice to have the big ones though!

Get a 10/22 and get ready for the addiction!

I don't see much wrong with factory 10/22 accuracy either. IMO the target builds make people understate it.

Agreed. When my 10/22 was stock out of the box using a cheap Tasco scope one hole groups at 25 yards was easy. It averaged 2-3" at 50 or slightly better if I was doing my part and taking my time. I've since built it up with a heavy barrel that advertised 1" groups at 50 yards and a Bushnell 3200 Elite scope...After I built up my 10/22 I saw an improvement but realized that the improvement wasn't worth the $600 (barrel, stock and scope). Don't get me wrong it definitely shoots better groups at the longer distances but I could've/should've used the money for other things.

I like putting out 10 clays between 50-100 yards and have my shooting buddy do the same. Then we see who could bust up their clays the fastest or with the fewest shots using 1-25 round magazine.....

"...need to buy stock in Winchester..." Far less expensive than centre fire anything.
"...the Dynapoints..." If they shoot best out of your pistol, buy a case. There's no guarantee they'll shoot best or cycle the action of a 10/22 though.

Release your anger, your anger makes you powerful...one more step into the dark side...

Yes come to the dark side... we have cookies! Although owning a 10/22 can lead to empty bank accounts (I have dropped about $600 in the last month on things like the Archangel Kit, GM Barrel and other goodies) and hours of insane enjoyment!
