Well - You've changed your tune. Action screw hole spacing, centre to centre, has shrunk from 8 inches to 7 3/4. No longer a P-14 stock, more like a Mauser 98 stock. BTW - Looks like someone did some additional inletting on the stock.
Yes sorry about that I don’t know how I measured 8 beforeWell - You've changed your tune. Action screw hole spacing, centre to centre, has shrunk from 8 inches to 7 3/4. No longer a P-14 stock, more like a Mauser 98 stock. BTW - Looks like someone did some additional inletting on the stock.
Okay the best precise measurement I can get is 7 7/8 .Scaling the pic on post 53 looks more like 8.2" to me, which would be a commercial mauser.
Well - Hole spacing is the governing consideration! See post #13, looks like you have a standard Mauser 98 sporter stock. Go to Intersurplus and look at the various 98 based sporters, Husqvarna made some nice ones using FN actions. You should be able to get a barrelled action or one with a cracked stock.Okay the best precise measurement I can get is 7 7/8 .
I’m not sure how precise the measurement needs to be to make a positive identification of what barrel and action will drop in to the stock
google id?
How does one do that Boxhitch ?google id?
You are asking them to take the risk of making an ID, as a basis for a potential 350$ sale. There are easier ways to make a living. In the world of Mauser 98 based sporters, there is a tremendous variation in bolt handle shaping, trigger and safety configuration, barrel diameter, magazine configuration, etc. All of these customizations can affect the fitment of the stock, meaning additional work would likely be required to mate the stock. You have to decide whether you are capable of stickhandling this effort to its conclusion. Your progress has been limited to this point.I emailed Intersurplus to see what they thought regarding the stock and what they think it would fit . So far no reply . Are they a super busy buisness ?
