Hey you beauties, looking for some input on a good semi shotgun. Price is not a huge option.
I have handled a bunch, I do have a preference to the A5. The A5 just feels really good to me.
The benelli's are great to. Looking for something to go migratory and pheasant hunt with and shoot some clays.
Just looking for some extra input from you guys.

Yes I too tried them all for fit and in the went went with a new Maxus last fall.
Absolutely love this shotgun. Cycles everything and is very light and swings like a dream. I can hardly miss with it : )
Not cheap at $1600.....but worth every penny IMO!

This is what I did.......Go to a big store that has all the models your interested in and shoulder them with your eyes closed.....the one that feels best and is pointing where you want when you open your eyes is a good choice. I spent a few months researching and trying them all at different shops. In the end I picked the Maxus and am still loving it.

Ya maxus for me too ,fantastic gun..$500 cheaper then benelli and i think its a better gun..just love the feel of the dura touch finish and the forarm

Benelli is way over rated. They struggle with light loads. The only one that seems to handle them is the SBEII. Also when you shoot heavy loads it beats the heck out of you. Just my opinion, I wasn't impressed. Especially for a $2,000 gun

I agree 100 percent with these comments. Overpriced.

Wrong, SBEII is a 3.5 inch gun and has a stiffer spring than Benelli 3 inch guns so will not handle lighter loads better. I've owned 6 of them and they have all been flawless. The M2 is a real workhorse and eats 1oz loads with ease. Inertia guns are cleaner and simpler but of have more recoil. Buy what fits,

The Italians know shotguns, just like the Finns know rifles.

Wrong about what? Inertia Benellis struggle with target loads. It's a known thing. I've seen it happen countless times at skeet clubs, I really mean COUNTLESS times. There are lots of Youtube videos of this issue as well. My friend experienced it first hand, He bought a Super Vinci and ended up exchanging it for the A400. It simply would not cycle light loads. The only Benelli i've seen cycle target loads properly is a SBEII only after it was sent out to Benelli for repair or adjustments. They advertise the Super Vinci to cycle target loads and it doesn't. If I'm paying +$2,000 for a shotgun it better eat anything I throw at it. Your point about the bolt being 3.5" instead of 3" is irrelevant. When I put a 3 DREM shell through it, I expect my $2,000 shotgun to cycle as advertised.
If your guns cycle, great. You're lucky.

It's not the bolt it's the spring difference between 3.5 and 3 inch guns. Benelli cycle 1oz loads fine, and you can get aftermarket springs for even lighter loads. I've seen lots of gas guns not cycle light loads either and more than one A400 that was a POS, doesn't mean they're all like that. I've owned just about all of them and the Benellis are the most reliable by far, there is a reason they make up the bulk of the supplied guns at dove hunting lodges in South America where hunters shoot thousands of rounds per day.

I have had a super vinci for almost 2 years now and I haven't had one failure. I shoot 1oz loads all the time for skeet(over 6000 rounds). I love it. Buy what fits you best and you will love it.
