Three kinda old do it all calibers

Why build them so close together?

.338 Winchester

.280 Remington

6mm Remington although I currently have 2 - .243 Winchesters.

Precisely.

That reminds me of something my old mentor told me: "If you only want three calibers for North American game, go with 6, 7 and 8 millimeters" That pretty well covers .243, .280 (or .270/7mm) and .338.;) :)

RIP, Jack.

Yes it is, just ask grnhawg:eek:

My 3 would be a 30-30, and the 45-70 and something I want, but dont yet have... A 22hornet

the newest cartridges i shoot are the 7.62x51 and 7.62x39. my favourite though is the 8x57, which does everything that i ask of a big game rifle.

My picks are

223

300WSM

375

But they coudl jut as easy be:

Any reasonably fast 22 centerfire

Any reasonable middle cartridge, 270 Winchester - 300Weatherby

Any reasonable larger caliber cartridge 338-06-416 Remington

What is the point of this thread?

Why would any sane gun nut confine himself (herself) to shootin' irons chambered for only THREE cartridges? OK I know the answer, lack of money, and that is a valid answer for sure.

Or is this like a lottery, "pick three"?????:p

I can't contemplate the horror of being restricted to three guns, but one of them would be a rimfire, one would be a centrefire in probably a .30 cal cartridge, and one would be a shotgun. And what fun would THAT be? Practical yes, fun no.
