Thursday with the twins at the Mission range

And I hate all three of you now. I need a 308 Black Rifle too!

Due to your unique situation (being so far away from civilization and all) :p I know you'd want a non restricted. The RFB is probably what you're looking for.

That being said the AR10 will be more accurate. But it's restricted (Which is complete crap but that's another discussion).

Thats an ARtranny !!!!! :dancingbanana:

Ah yes the ARtranny.
Looks like an AR10 especially from a far. Up close though. One of these isn't like the other. I would coin the term "more than meets the eye" however I fear multiple trade mark infringement lawsuits.

The ARtranny is one of those surprises that seems good at first until the full realization of the situation becomes apparent. Ummm why is there a bolt handle? The AR10 is a semi auto there shouldn't be a bolt handle or "tactical knob"!!

It's sort of like "winning" tickets to be on a Jerry Springer show. Wow a free trip and paid vacation. Fantastic. Then the reality sets in. Umm what is it I don't know? Please tell me it's only my wife cheating on me with my best friend. Please, please....

Fireball,
I'm hesitant to mess around with that load considering it worked so well. But we might want to see if we can fine tune it a bit. Plus get rid of whatever Tikka fire formed brass you've slipped into the mix.

Which of course only made me wonder what else you were doing while reloading. Then I realized it's you and knew I really didn't want to know the answer. I'm still thinking you used the 7.62x54r dies instead. That way there won't be any nightmares about handling those rounds.

Also was thinking about the 175 SMK. I wanted to get a load for the 5R. Considering what works in the 5R also seems to be the same for the AR10, it should give us a good round. The only issue of course is that this round would be best after 600 yards and the range only goes to 300 meters. Oh well still good for the 5R and might be better at 300. Worth trying at least.

Oh wow look at this guy. How many reloaded rounds have you showed up with at the range... "0". I wouldn't hesitate to guess that your reloads are full of Old Stock.
Before messing with the load we need to strap these rifles down to the bench so we can eliminate your massive operator error.

Hahha.. Apparently I have some reloading to do.

Maybe I'll pull a Fireball and put a 168 SMK in 30-06 brass and see if he notices. Hmm that's strange I don't know why it won't chamber. I full resized all of them!!! :welcome:

Oh found a product that should improve your pistol shooting as well (actually he shoots pretty well).

Another Canadian AR10 picture.
Note the first one was apparently in Texas during training before deployment.

I have the same upper, I picked it up from Wolverine for $750 including the bolt carrier group. Tried to get another one, but they were all gone. This is my baby. The lower I made at work from scratch and have put almost 1000 rds thru it without a single hitch. It's waay more fun than my AR15, although with the AR10, M14, 308 bolt gun a carbine AR 10 upper in the works. I am going to need another job to keep them fed.:D

Dogzilla,
Do you know if yours was one of the prototype AR10 rifles or a bring back? The test ones only had 200 rounds through them. The bring backs were actually used and have an unknown round count. Often they have been modified by the soldiers. Camo paint seems to be the most common addition.

As for cost. They were a heck of a bargain if you were lucky enough to get one. The prototype ones cost more but still a great deal. They shoot great.

I bought mine a number of years ago. It was a test unit. I've got the Armalite AR10 lower with 7.62 markings. The only issue is the trigger needs to be changed.

I'm not sure if Firebal's is a test or bring back. It had a couple of owners. The lower is an Eagle Arms by Armalite marked 7.62 mm. It came with an unknown target trigger that is truly phenomenal. It also had a magpull miad grip. I'll be adding that grip to my AR rifles.

By the way nice job on that lower. Very cool. Also I like the Magpul PRS stock. Looks like a good combo. What did you add to the end of your barrel? Flash hider of some kind?

I also prefer shooting .308. That and .22LR are my favourites.

One thing that I don't like about the Monolithic rail craze or in the case of the Armalite the straight rail. It's harder to mount larger scopes. Fine for military but not so good for target shooting scopes with bigger objective lenses. Bad picture but you can see the step on the DPMS. This makes it a lot easier to mount optics. I had to have extra high rings for the 50mm objective scope on the Armalite. I couldn't go to 56mm.
