Tick and Lyme Disease Awareness

Marks work warehouse had some pre treated clothing available last year, not sure about smell or effectiveness.

I wear their tick pants, there’s no scent.

IIRC, Nov.2nd was the last time I took a tick off the dog in the fall…

So only Dec/Jan/Feb were tick free… At this point, we might as well keep the dog on tick meds year round! Ugh

Shyte! I was skinning my deer last fall and got bit through my black "grease monkey" gloves. Was a quick sharp pain then gone. Scares me a bit. I fuggin hate ticks! Why did those have to be part of the plan... $hitty bugs.

The problem is that the spirochete can literally burrow into cells when attacked with drugs and remain there dormant and unreachable by anything but frequencies for years if not decades.

There's the info. The rest is up to you.

I don't think I'm the first to say this but peavey mart carries several types of fly repellant for horses. I just bought some for the upcoming turkey season, it contains 0.5% permethrin just like the sawyer stuff, it was like $20. apply before wearing and it's good even after a few washes.

******** Just be aware that permethrin is nasty stuff so make sure the concentration of what you buy is correct and would suggest limiting your exposure!
All that being said I'll take the chemical exposure over Lyme or Alpha-gal syndrome (allergy to red meat) any day.

If you don't want to use it or cant find it regular old bug spray with a minimum of 30% DEET will also work (off deep woods the blue can have the right amount), I worked down by Long Point and Peele and have hunted there lots, I used deet and almost never got a single tick. I forgot to apply a few times and had 40+ black-legged ticks on me after 100ft through the woods, so you do have options.

Also for those new to ticks make sure to shed all clothing worn outside into a garbage bag (I do this at the truck) or something then straight into the clothes dryer when you get home, the hot dry air is one of the only things that will kill them do use high heat settings. don't forget to check your boots they have a way of collecting inside and under creases. If you find a tick there are three species: Black-legged ticks (also called deer ticks), Wood ticks (also known as Dog ticks), and Lonestar ticks (rare in Canada). only Black-legged and Lonestar carry Lyme so looking up some species identification is a very good idea, but getting all ticks tested and being careful is always recommended.

I’m not sure a tick could or would even try to bit through a grease monkey glove and rarely are tick bits felt.
Not sure what but you but I’d rule out ticks

Deet is not a friendly chemical either, my experience in nwo which can have horrible bug seasons is it that it doesn’t work for ticks.

New Hampshire man who wound his legs with sticky tape was big in the US news last week. That's what I call bad ticks.

A lot of lime disease infections are from ###ual contact aka bodily fluids not even ticks

Care to offer proof of this statement? Many people who have been affected by Lyme disease follow this CGN page. There will be considerable interest if you have any new, credible information to pass along. Here is what the American CDC has to say on this topic:

"There is no credible scientific evidence that Lyme disease is spread through ###ual contact. Published studies in animals do not support ###ual transmission (Moody 1991; Woodrum 1999), and the biology of the Lyme disease spirochete is not compatible this route of exposure (Porcella 2001). The ticks that transmit Lyme disease are very small and easily overlooked. Consequently, it is possible for ###ual partners living in the same household to both become infected through tick bites, even if one or both partners doesn’t remember being bitten.

After son's bout with Lyme disease, mom invents new tick repellent

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/c...lyme-disease-woman-invents-new-tick-repellent

Interesting that the repellent formula began with a victim's family, rather than researchers. She took it to Acadia University, who developed it, and who appear to be involved in the approval submissions to Health Canada. It is claimed to be 97.5% effective at preventing tick bites to humans and pets.

The ingredients include salt water, lemongrass oil, jojoba oil, and witch hazel, rather than chemicals such as DEET. More information is available at atlantick.ca.
