TIGER DEFENSE THREAD - B.C. woman mauled to death by tiger

I saw this on the News yestarday. Very sad. it's a Guy who was keeping them and it was his 32yr old girl friend who died. I heard somthing about it being one of the three cats he owns that were not declawed, and it happend to cut an artery and she bled to death infront of the kids. very sad, but I hardly think the cat was to blame! I always thought there were laws about owning these kind of animals?!? ok, so I wanna buy a lion, who do I talk too??? is it really THAT easy?

Not only girlfriend, but recent fiance. They each had kids and were in the process of making a nice stable home for them. She was able to talk on the cellphone to him before she died. I can't imagine what it must have been like to get that call. 
As dingus said, having the cat killed would have been the last thing she wanted. "They" are going to use this to ban having exotic animals as pets, which they've wanted to do for years.

Actually for Gatehouse it would be more appropriate to have him standing in a canoe while letting both barrels rip at the same time.
From what I heard the "attack" was kind of accidental. The cat reached out to pull the woman closer (not really attacking, just playful) and his claws hooked and sliced the femoral artery. Cut that bugger and if you don't get a tourniquet on it and too a hospital ASAP you'll bleed out in minutes. Sad for the kids losing their Mom.

Just goes to show the bull#### bureacracy involved...They had to bring in a 'Vet' (no, not a retired cf hull tech with a veterans plate on his car) from Victoria to 'humanley' put the tiger down...Im thinking a 180 from an 06 would have done the job without too much fanfare ????

When I was living in the himalayas of northern India, this old man in the hills was attacked by a man-eater. He grabbed its tongue and managed to rip it out of the mouth. Tiger left him alone and then died soon after.......
One night we had a friend over. When she tried to leave after dark, she was scared back into the house by a growl by a leopard. Apparently it had just killed a reeses monkey, and she got too close. She ended up staying a couple hours longer to let the cat move on. Wish it would have stayed around longer. Those monkeys are evil.
