Here is my set up - Near Mfg 20moa base with TPS Low Steel rings on a L/H Tikka T3 Lite

beautiful setup...

how much was the NEAR base?

I went with the Leupold rotary dovetails and low rings on my T3/VX111 combo. The change that I made was to drill and tap 2 holes and move each base ahead whatever distance the hole spacing is. I also changed the pad to a Decelerator. My rule is that if I can't get my fist in between my forehead and the scope I'll change whatever it takes to do it. Getting hit sucks.

I just contacted Richard Near, to ask about their 10 or 20 MOA bases for T3's. They're in stock, stainless or black.

edit:
thanks to clang for clearing up a question I had about his set up.
(His Near base is for Weaver dimensioned cross-bolts, so regular picatinny rings won't fit.)

Here's my question to the group...
I already have several TPS ring sets, but Richard said that they would not fit properly unless he specially made a base to fit them.....?
What is it that makes the TPS rings not work on the Near base?

Popcan, I send you PM with detailed info, but for the rest - weaver vs picatinny - Near bases are weaver, so you need weaver rings. TPS offers both standard rings (Picatinny) and TPS 'W' rings that fit weaver bases.

Yes, my bad - I thought the Near bases were picatinny.

I just swapped out my Burris mounts and Leopold rings to get my VXL lower on my 223. I used some Millet rings and dropped the scope nearly .200. Millet had the lowest rings I could find. They are .413 from the bottom of the tube to the reciever top. The combination of the Burris mounts and low rings added up to over .600.

With a varmint Tikka, you don' need to as the cheekpiece is added, but I see your point with the T3 Lite stock.
