I really like fourth rifle in the series of pictures of those modified Tikkas.
That reflex sight just screams accuracy on that rifle:)

Hahaha.

People use reflex rifles on precision rifles for target acquisition on tricky targets/fields of fire, when a target may be hard to find from a condensed field of view that a scope has. This situation is more prominent in field matches, where targets, especially if the paint is shot off of them, are in hard to spot areas under the shade or cover of vegetation.

I played shortly with using a red dot on my precision rifle for this purpose, but found I rarely needed it, and it was a bit of a pain to have. Its better to just keep things simple I find, and learn the skill (in this case target acquisition) than buying gear as a crutch.

I find this one pretty good looking, but then beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

I appreciate purdy wood rifles and CRF actions too, they all have soul to me. My gun safe does not discriminate lol

And at the end of the day guns are tools, and each should be configured to accomplish its specific task.

I much more appreciate a rifle that has utility than one that's designed to look pretty on a wall. Utility is ###y, and that comes in many different forms.

100%.

I cant believe people actually compare the Axis to a Tikka? Crazy.

well if you look up the price of a tikka for dealer 10 years ago i can see why .... it is not the prices the customer are paying that make them higher end. they are good budget lightweight rifle but they re not top end ones for sure. and we have still 2 308s synthetic stainless at home ...

If you’ve owned and shot both, there isn’t a whole hell of a lot of difference. Sure, the tikka has a slightly nicer fit and finish too it. They are both push feed cookie cutters that shoot accurately. Other than that there isn’t a whole lot to recommend one over the other except price. The salvage is much cheaper!

The bolt lift, magazine, feeding, stock, trigger, fit and finish and aesthetics are night and day on an axis vs a tikka. If you can’t tell the difference the issue may be with you…

I do not currently own either and likely will not in the future

Well my tikka actually ejects lol. Magazine doesnt seem like the tabs gonna break off any time now. The bolt handle isn't cheap cast pot metal and the triggers a lot better. I can't bend the stock by hand without trying and no one recommends JB welding things to make it more solid. Barrels clean easier too.

That said I like my axis for what I paid lol

Hahaha I bet! Me too!! I miss the population up here of 20 years ago! Seems like everything is growing/getting pricier/more… all but my income!

I feel you on all of the above lol

Hey fellas, there is nothing wrong with them. I’m just saying if it where MY MONEY, and having owned both in the past, I’d keep saving until I could afford a nicer rifle. Hell I’d prefer a great many used rifles in good condition to a new tikka or axis, both of which are similar enough to me that I couldn’t be bothered spending more on one over the other. I consider them much as I do any other rifle like an axis, ruger American, AB3, XPR etc. All functional and accurate, but otherwise underwhelming. What anyone chooses to do with their money is certainly their business and doesn’t offend me in any way!
