Tikka blow up

This is the first tikka I have heard of blowing up...Only sakos did it before! If there are still people out there who have not checked the recall notice a post like this may save somebody's eye or hand!!!

And, they were recalled, Darryl. If Sako/Tikka are admitting to a problem, I'd think it exists. Having said that, I have a Tikka and just bought a Sako. Great guns!

IM well aware of what models were affected, and Im up to date on current news. This is neither...

Actually darryl he was using factory rounds..Unless the factory used the wrong powder:) Hornady factory rounds.:)

Yeah, like the federal 22 LR bulk packs that blew up two barrels out of the same lot, the same day. One Cooey model 60 that belonged to a buddy, and a model 64 that belonged to me.
Or the double charged Expert 12 guage loads from Winchester last year i had to send back, or the New Remington Core Lokt Ultra rounds that wouldnt fire out of 2 separate 308 rifles tried? Hard primers seated about .100 deeper than the rim.
Never a fault form the factory with Ammo.
Ever read the disclaimer?
Im not hacking on you Machine, but still there are more variables that could have caused a catestrophic failure than the rifle. What round did her fire before the Hornady factory round, or 10 rounds ago for that matter? My point being, there is usually a darwinism behind most catestrophic failures like this. I know someone that thought it would be smart to shoot a 308 win out of a PH 270 win.
Did it go bang? yes.
Did anyone get seriously hurt? No
Was the gun completely ####ed and the stock splintered? Yes.
MOral of the story, he was lucky, but could have killed himself being an Idiot.
Point beng, this guy could have been testing his new fandangled load that gets 500 fps faster than factory in the new strong tikka action, but he couldnt handle the recoil. So he switched to factory ammo, and his gun blew up
Sometimes #### happens for no apparent reason but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

I've seen a few blowups. One was a stuck wad on the second shot, peeled the 870 barrel like a banana. Another was also an 870, but was the ammos fault, hi-brass winchester factory load shredded the brass and blew the action block out the side of the receiver, buddy's face was numb for 2 days.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Sako/Tikka may be great rifles. You may buy one and you can be 99.99% sure it won't blow up. It may shoot .0000001 MOA. In the end who gives a #### if your rifle MIGHT blow up.

The way this company handled this whole problem really sickens me. For the longest time they wouldn't even admit there was a problem. When they finally did they should have run adds in the hunting mags. Even a note on their website about the recall was never even published. Why would you buy a gun from a company like this?

Tikka/ Sako rifles I bet are currently the safest rifles in the world. With there recent Ka-Booms they have probably reacted with a whole slew of extra quality checks and measures. In the long term these will not be sustainable but this is typically what happens when a company has major recall like this.

How was Remington when he contacted him? I bet they didnt even return his calls, or emails.
If they were remington rifles blowing up, they would still be denying the problem, and there would be no recall.
Look how long it took withthe 710's...

How many guys here have crooked remington base holes, or crooked screw in chokes that caused your barrel to burst, and remington just laughed?
Tikka/Stoeger were class actdealing with a few bad barrels.
ANd Ryan B, EVERY gun can blow up. Ask a few members here.
If some guy hands you a 12 guage with handloads loaded with Magnum rifle powder and the gun blows up, is it the guns fault?
That is still the question remaining unanswered here.
