Tikka T1x for 22 Matches - Outlaw/ORPS ?

Unsure where you are, or can’t remember, but I have both cz and tikka’s you are welcome to try if close.

I like tikka triggers better, even after springs.

I appreciate the offer but I think there are a couple provinces between us.
There are a bunch of nice guys at the outlaw matches I’ve been going to so once those kick up again I’m sure I’ll have the opportunity.

Not that thickness means accuracy but from photos the Tikka barrel looks heavier than the CZ 457 (base model).
Am I right here or is it just the photos that are throwing me off.

One thing that is really pushing me to the Tikka is just the availability in Canada at this time.
Seems like CZs are gone.

I am not knocking the CZ by any means but I wonder if the overall attitude towards them being the best (I get this from polls and messaging people in multiple precision forums) is due to the overwhelming number of people that own them.

Yes lots own them because they are fantastic (speaking from what I have heard not experience) but if Tikka was owned or as heavily present in the precision landscape do you think it would be a flip scenario?

Ultimately from what I have heard I can’t go wrong with either choice.
My decision is going to come down to the following:
-which one shoots a wider range of cheaper ammo better (so I don’t have to shoot match grade stuff)
-do I go with a more built up CZ and have no plan to change it or do I go with a Tikka and eventually put it into an MDT (keeping the same barrel)

I think your in a coin flip. Pick the platform you want and go. Barrel doesn’t shoot, replace it, don’t like the stock replace it. Gamble on the one you choose has a barrel that works for you.

I like the tikka trigger better and CZ mags better. I’d choose trigger over mags, but that’s me.

If it means anything my 10 year old who can shoot 20/20 golf balls off the bench at 100m consistently (with good conditions and ammo) goes for the tikka. Take that for what it’s worth. I still prefer my annie 64 even if my daughter occasionally outshoots me.

Enjoy.

Let me give you the main reason for me getting a Tikka. I knew i wanted to do center fire and rimfire prs matches. I also knew i wanted to go the chassis route. Getting a tikka was an easy choice due to the fact that the T1x and T3 has the same footprint and this means that i needed one chassis and i can swop barreled actions as i wish. The same is unfortunately not true for CZ or other brands unless you go with the R700 footprint ( bergara, vudoo or rimx).
I am more than happy with my tikka but would probably have been as happy with a cz. Long run i know, for myself, my reasoning was sound.

Yes, I also do this as I have growing kids and if I stay with the same platform I can swap out to fit them. It works, for now.

Maybe I should just avoid the rabbit hole of spending and just use my Little Badger with Vortex Diamondback on it….

In all seriousness though it looks like either one will meet my needs.
I think with either one I’m going to eventually want to switch the stock out on it so unless they come out with an MDT XRS with a 20” barrel CZ or an MDT XRS Tikka combo for $1000 I’ll likely end up with a base mode of one of the two (probably Tikka based on availability).
