picked the tikka up a little while ago and just got it set up the way I like, its sitting in a B&C tikka T3 sporter style stock ( some modification required for the wider T1x mag well. i used a mill) a DIP 0moa rail, vortex pro 30mm rings and a bushnell forge 2.5-15x50 to top it off. I took it out to my brother in laws yesterday and we had some fun plinking easily out to 200 yards on a 6" x 6" steel plate after we made a DOPE card for the distances and specific round I was shooting (seems to really like CCI subs 1050fps, 10 shot groups @ 50 yards are .5" or under) it also seems to shoot a tad better with the new stock and without that plastic barrel block in it.

I set this one up as a trainer for my long range hunting rig, im loving the T1x so far, its my most accurate .22 i have owned and aside from the original stock that I came with I prefer it over my CZs I have owned in the past.

these last pictures i shot today 2019/11/16 do to all the skepticism. all groups are 10 shots at 50 yards, shot with my tikka T1X on 15x magnification with CCI subsonic 40gr LHP, why it likes this ammo so much and not some of my other match grade branded ammo i dont know. im not here to blow smoke, i enjoy shooting and i do a good bit of it .22 being the majority, this post was suppose to be a recommendation to anyone else looking to buy a T1X...and a bit of a show and tell seeing as how i am pleased with the rifle and performance. I will stick to my guns and say this is a consistent .5" or under shooter at 50 yards i went out of my way to prove it as such. thanks for reading the post and happy shooting!

Just got one myself as my new PRS 22 rifle. Haven't taken it out yet but it sure feels nice and handles well. I have mine setup in a Bravo chassis.

That's incredible. To be clear that's with CCI Subsonic HP, not CCI SV? No matter. A shooter has cause for rejoicing when he has a rifle that shoots sub-.5" ten-shot-groups at 50 yards with any ammo, even match ammo. A lot of shooters would be overjoyed to shoot consistent sub-.5" five-shot-groups with CCI at 50 yards.

To put this in perspective, when Anschutz tests to determine that it's rifles meet their accuracy standards they put the barreled action in a vise. They shoot ten-shot-groups with match ammo in a tunnel. The Anschutz standard for ten shot groups is 18mm (about .708").

Your rifle is producing extraordinary results.

CCI subsonic hollow points yep. I tried about 15 different brands, all standard Velocity or subsonic and it liked a few of them. The best was some Winchester Dynapoint GT target, unfortunately you can’t get it any more and funny enough it was bulk ammo but it has shot the best out of most of my .22s. Fiocchi biathlon super match was pretty good to but good old CCI subs were the second best and readily available. I can’t complain, my dad had a nice Anschutz that costs around 3 times the price and it outshoots his. The tikka held pretty good groups at 200 yards as well. It was a descent day, a bit of a breeze and the ten shot groups measured from 3- 4.5”. Some of the ammo I tested was a bit of a shock (RWS rifle match, RWS semiauto and S&B standard target) they shoot very well out of most of my .22s but would not group under an inch at 50 yards. Just goes to show every .22 like it’s own pill.

My T1X really impress me so far. I was considering changing the barrel and trigger but after being well below 1/2'' at 50yrs, I see no reason why. The trigger breaks very nicely under 1.5 pounds and this is all I need for what I want to do.

Have fun.

Love my T1X as well. Super accurate with pretty much anything except 36grain hollow points. Only one tiny grip, the ejection port is really small making manual feeding difficult.

They should have made a left handed as well. I asked them and they said they have no plans to yet so i bought a tuff-22 instead.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of LH rifles being made, so the Tikka T1X does not stand out as unusual in that way.

A little more unusual is the OP's rifle in its accuracy. Ten shot groups at 200 yards of 3 - 4.5" are quite exceptional, especially given the difficulty of finding ammo that has a really small ES. To illustrate, at 200 yards for every 10 fps difference in MV results in 1" of vertical spread. That means that assuming perfect aiming and shot execution, ammo would need an ES of no more than 45 fps to achieve 4.5" groups. It's all the more extraordinary that the groups were ten shot groups.

A further indication as to the incredible accuracy of this particular rifle is in the ten shot groups it shoots at 50 yards with CCI subsonic HP ammo -- sub-.500". To add more perspective than given earlier to this level of accuracy, the much-lauded Vudoo .22LR rifle either still holds, or held for a time, a record comparable to the OP's T1X. The designer of the Vudoo reports that at the Lapua testing facility it holds (or held until recently) the record at the Lapua ammo testing facility for the smallest ten shot group. It was "below 13mm" (or under .512") and was shot in a specially-designed fixture -- a custom vise -- made by the Vudoo rifle maker. (For a few more details, see RFC h t t p s://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1176341&page=5 )

What's unfortunate is that shooters looking to achieve this level of accuracy with a Tikka T1X of their own might be disappointed. Regrettably, since the OP's rifle is extraordinarily accurate, it shouldn't be considered as typical of this make of rifle. In short, not many rifles, especially factory rifles, can achieve such outstanding accuracy. Added to that are the very good shooting skills that are needed (as well as very good ammo) and the OP seems to be at a level above most everyday shooters.

Oh Glenn... I wish you'd fact check yourself, so that I don't have to keep doing this (correcting you, that is). Please, stop misleading people.

Where to start with this doozy... 3-4.5" groups at 200 yards aren't "exceptional"... they're... not so good (sorry to anyone who thought they were doing good). 10 shot groups under 2" are exceptional, 2.5"-3-ish" normal, 4"+ and whatever you're doing isn't working. Saying it's too difficult to find ammo with small ES is misleading. A quick look at my chronograph data for the modest SK-Biathlon Sport corroborates that for 50 shots, ES for any given 10-shot string was 42 at worst, with 37/38 being more typical. Overall ES for the entire 50 shots was 57, yet such a spread would never have been witnessed on any one target. Shooting groups under 4.5" is well within reach for that ammo. It is still very possible for ammo with a high ES for many shots to only be so afflicted due to a few outliers, while most rounds shoot with a much tighter spread. Perhaps you'd like to share your 200 yard 10-shot groups, to illustrate why you feel Slipery's claims are so questionable you feel you must attack him?

That measurement is outside edge, or about 0.29" centered. Respectable, though doubtful to be a record. I cannot readily find reference to Lapua records, but the Eley record, for 40 shots at 50m, was 12.4mm (outside edge, or about 0.26" centered) in 2014. h t t p://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2014/01/12-4-mm-for-40-shots-at-50m-new-record-at-eley-test-center/ Shooting sub 1/2" (centered) groups at 50 yards is good, for the rifle and the ammo, but still quite a league away from ammo test center records. I don't understand why the comparison was even brought up.

I don't see anything about his results that stand out as something otherworldly, aside from the claim CCI ammo was used, but hey, sometimes they accidentally make a good lot

Are marital spats no longer scratching your combative itch? You seem to be jumping all over anyone who says they did some good shooting lately. Drink a beer, smoke a spliff and chill the heff out, man.

Myke, you seem to be a disputatious fellow at best and I've often asked you quit making a nuisance of yourself. Perhaps your dogged criticism fulfills a need that psychologists could explain. No matter, I find it difficult to take you seriously as you blow hot and cold. Perhaps its too much homemade. I really don't know. But if you want to fight, get married or join the army. Both offer better opportunities for battling real and imagined foes than I will. I don't want to fight with you.

In any case, I'm not jumping on anyone, least of all you so don't take this the wrong way -- if that's possible. I'm trying to note how exceptional a factory sporter must be to achieve such notable results with non-match ammo, an achievement that may impress and astonish a lot of shooters.

But seeing as you can't resist not only following me around when I post here and RFC but challenging my views at every opportunity, why don't you offer an explanation why CCI ammo has a better ES than many match ammos? Maybe it does. Maybe this is an unusually good batch of CCI Subsonic HP ammo. I don't shoot CCI ammo and perhaps you can shed some light. In any event, a low ES is necessary for 3 - 4.5" ten shot groups at 200 yards regardless of the rifle and shooter. Ammo with an ES greater than 50 fps cannot achieve such groups at 200 yards even with a perfect rifle and perfect shooting. There's no way around that.

Regarding the the Tikka T1X and the Vudoo, you say "I don't understand why the comparison was even brought up." The reason is simple, so it's hard to see why you don't understand. I'll explain.

The Tikka was said to shoot ten shot groups outdoors at 50 yards with CCI that were under .500". I think that's a commendable achievement. Incredible and extraordinary were the words I used. I said many shooters "would be overjoyed to shoot consistent sub-.5" five-shot-groups with CCI at 50 yards." I stand by that.

To put the Tikka TIX's ten shot groups in perspective, I compared it in an earlier post with the standard Anschutz supposedly has for its rifles' ten shot groups. Anschutz puts the barreled actions in a vise and shoots in an indoor test tunnel. The Anschutz ten shot groups must be no larger than 18mm (.709") at 50 yards or the rifle is sent back to the factory for further work.

To add further perspective, I offered the comparison with the much-talked-about Vudoo rifle. On RFC, the designer and maker of the Vudoo rifle, posting under the name RAVAGE, said that the Vudoo was tested at the Lapua testing facility (presumably the one in Mesa, Arizona). In the indoor test tunnel in a specially made fixture or vise, the Vudoo shot what RAVAGE believed was that facility's indoor test tunnel record of the smallest ten shot group at 50 yards up to that time which was "less than" 13mm (or .512"). This measurement was outside edge measured, as confirmed by RAVAGE just today on RFC. (See h t t p s://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11669853&postcount=91 )

I think it's remarkable that a sporter shot outdoors with CCI ammo achieve results close to those achieved by a Vudoo clamped in a vise shooting indoors with match ammo. That is why I made the comparison -- to put things in perspective. I don't know about other test facility records and they aren't at issue here.

Hey, when you dump close to $2000 into a mass production run of the mill $600 rifle, it HAS to shoot better then anything else available, with all the cheapest ammo available...and a $1000 Chinese scope on top to boot.

Before rabidmouse returns to following and attacking me as he so often does (surprisingly he didn't do it yet as he had already logged on this morning) I'm going to put him as the sole occupant of my ignore list. Readers don't need to be concerned about what has become unproductive debate and contention. I've grown tired of it and him.

Everything I got was a descent deal and the parts were bought in the US (stock and scope) scope cost me 350.00 usd stock 200 so not to bad all round. Wanted it the same as or pretty close my long range hunting rig. The tikka aside from the stock is probably the best bang for your buck until you get up in the 1200-1500 rimfire rifles, I have owned quite a few .22 rifles and shoot them often enough. As for the ammo I have a good selection of quality match ammo and the rifle likes CCI sub 40gr LHP, do a bit of research And you will see it had a good reputation for beating a lot of match ammo in terms of consistency.
